Freaking Sweet.

Start practicing

Where it began
I can't begin to knowin'
But then I know it's growin' strong

Was in the spring
And spring became the summer
Who'd have believed you'd come along

Hands, touchin' hands
Reachin' out
Touchin' me
Touchin' you

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would

But now I
Look at the night
And it don't seem so lonely
We fill it up with only two
And when I hurt
Hurtin' runs off my shoulders
How can I hurt when I'm with you

Warm, touchin' warm
Reachin' out
Touchin' me
Touchin' you

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would
Oh, no, no

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would
Sweet Caroline

Interesting. Notice the demographics for the already announced acts. How old is Neil Diamond?I am certain availability is an issue, but none of the acts so far appeal much to the boomers.

Must be saving that for the opening.....

If not, I'm gonna start to wonder who's booking talent.

Black Crowes are playing Cain's in July....

Renaissance

Neil Diamond doesn't appeal to boomers?  Who are you and what planet are you from?  His career spanned the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.  Neil Diamond is a definitive baby boomer crowd pleaser.

We're coming to America!

I thought that restraining order was still in effect keeping you at least 100 feet from Neil Diamond.

If not the baby boomers, who does Neil Diamond appeal to?

It certainly doesn't appeal to my grandparents nor particularly to my generation.  Seems to leave the middle for his primary audience... which would be those born from 1950 ~ 1960.  Aka, baby boomers.

Another big name signing, another act none in my circle will pay to go see.

I crush grooves.

Yeah. My parents are boomers....and will probably go see Neil Diamond...and they'll be there with all of the other 50ish year old people in town. Cool thing about 50ish year old people is that they tend to have expendable income...which comes in handy when you're trying to sell tickets and concessions...and when you're serving food a few blocks away. I'm in my thirties and I dig Diamond.  No tribute band but I'd like to see the act.

Sure, my 20 something GF reacted with the "you're kidding right?" look on her face.

Neil Diamond put out massive amounts of suckage from about 1980 on. Even my wife, a big fan, admits this.

But then, a few years ago, he got Rick Rubin as a producer. You know, *that* Rick Rubin -- the fellow who produced all those latter-day albums by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Audioslave, Slayer and at least two dozen other acts. Heck, Rubin deserves some sort of lifetime-achievement prize for resurrecting Johnny Cash's career like he did.

Diamond's last album, "12 Songs," was tremendous. Rubin stripped out all the schlock that made those 1980s and '90s albums unlistenable. Rubin gently busted Diamond's chops and told him: "You can do better."

He did.

Rubin's on board with the new album coming out on May 6.

So, yeah, I'm going.

Cubs

I know numerous kids in their young twenties that like Mr. Diamond!
