I live in Phoenix and don't use oven mitts for driving gloves in the summer, so flamers don't bother me.

Flam
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In percussion, a flam is a drum rudiment consisting of a quiet "grace" note on one hand followed by a louder "primary" stroke on the opposite hand. The two notes are played almost simultaneously, and are intended to sound like a single, 'broader' note.

Flams can be combined with many other different rudiments, such as a paradiddle which will result in a flamadiddle, or a triplet which will result in a flam accent.

Surprisingly, Flamadiddle was one of the names we were considering for our first born child.

Do not joke about the flamadiddle, RM.  That rudiment is what got me to first chair in junior high band.

For a couple of months there, I had the best flamadiddle in school.

I played zamboni in the high school band, or was it the water pipe.... that might be why I can't remember.

Ah!  The water pipe!  Such beautiful music!

I never could figure out why there was only one note or pitch hole on the water pipe though...
