I have, for years, kept bank accounts at two locations, something that seem wise in the current market. I do my checking at a traditional bank and savings at a credit union.

My current credit union closed some location and the closest location is now 700 miles away. Does anyone have any recommendations of a good local credit union I could switch to?

I don't use them, but Tulsa Postal seems to be growing.

TTCU is the best in town. Hands down.

I've been with them since I was a kid. All my cars have been through them, personal loans, ELOCs. Super nice people there too.

Check with whichever is convenient to you...

Lots of them have apparently started to co-bank.  (ie. I can withdraw from my TTCU account at Red Crown, etc.)

Well I tried using red crown because it was convenient and was told they allow no online or ATM access to savings accounts.

I'll second that. When the rules allowed them to open their membership I joined and haven't been disappointed. They are also in the process of putting up a new, and much nicer from the looks of things, building.

I'm not sure why most credit unions close at 5 and weekends.

Or... you could keep the account if you are happy.  I have an account at a CC Union with the nearest branch many miles away.  It is mostly an immobile account with backup funds (or whatever).

If you use it on a regular basis I understand, but if not - debit cards, online funds transfers, free transfers, online banking, the need to actually go to the bank is minimal.

I have a savings account at TTCU, my new car loan, and a home equity line of credit, too.  I've been very pleased with their service.  I'm thinking about moving my checking over there too.  The only thing that had been keeping me from it was that I thought Quiktrip ATMs would charge me, but I found out that's not true... Plus it will make it easier to transfer money to savings.

That's the weird part, Red Crown, which I was going to use, doesn't allow ATM cards, online access, or anything else for savings. That means the account I have in coastal Texas is more accesible than the one I have in Tulsa. Pretty wacky.

I use the American Airlines CU.  I don't know who is eligible to join, though.

Can you use the Credit Union Service Center at 61st & Mingo?  When the AA Credit Union office moved out of my building, I started using the CU Service Center for depositing checks etc.

I never have a fee on my TTCU ATM/debit card. I use QT most of the time, sometimes the drive-up ATM at Community Bank on SW Blvd.

The only account that I know of that they don't have ATM/debit cards is business accounts. I have a D/B/A and they wouldn't issue a card.

If you have a favorite high school, they have branded ATM cards and every time you use it, they make a donation to them.

Their online banking is pretty good too. They also have a phone-based system that lets you access your account to check balance, transfer, etc.

And TTCU has always seemed pretty convenient -- their drive-thrus are open until 6 weekdays and 'til noon on Saturday.

Yeah, I heart TTCU.

Grizz...   I called them and they told me otherwise.

They said you should be able to withdraw from either checking or savings at the machines and that their online system allows for account transfers between savings and checking.

I still have an account with them but I have never set it up for online banking (plus no checking) or I would try it and let you know.    They were no longer convenient to us when we moved so we went to TTCU.
