Just yesterday I saw where our city roads were rated the 15th worst in the US. I am sorry but do not know where I saw this reported.

So, the local lie newspaper prints this article on the front page to hide the rating of our diminishing streets. Interesting.

Here's a link to the article about our roads being 15th worst aox. I agree; what a spin on things by the Tulsa World.

It's funny. I travel to Atlanta quite a bit and have always marveled about the quality of their roads (horrible traffic, but GREAT roads). Now, I have proof that I wasn't just dreamin'.

TheTed

What does the quality of Atlanta roads have to do with this article?

The article says we're the best in Oklahoma. We could very well have some of the worst roads in the nation and still be best in Oklahoma.

If you'll read the article I posted, it says Atlanta has the best roads in the nation. THAT is what is has to do with the topic. READ Ted. Or is this another incarnation of Davaz? Anytime I see negative posts about Oklahoma from a newbie, I suspect that Davaz is involved. Go back to Houston if that's the case.

TheTed

There's nothing wrong with the TW article. It's just like saying we're the smartest in the special education class.

I agree that it probably should have said something about our poor national ranking, though.

Here is a link to the organization conducting the research:

http://www.tripnet.org/index.html

Just to clarify, the study only involved cities with populations over 500,000--I believe a total of 70 cities.  Tulsa tied with 3 other cities for 15th place in terms of poor road conditions.  There is nothing that I can find that shows how they determined what qualifies as poor.

Overall, I am a bit skeptical of the organization in general.  According to the website, the organization is composed of, among other things, business involved in highway engineering, construction, and finance.  Maybe they are a bit biased?

You're right.  The World once again proves that its better at not reporting the news.  Still, did you expect any better from them?

I stand corrected. See the correction in today's (Wed.) paper. The entire article was basically incorrect.

New strategy.  Write bogus articles for print.  Correct them later on the internet when they are good and stale.

Speaking of the Tulsa World. Did ya get a look at that handsome devil on the front page and that stunning artwork? [:P]  http://www.tulsaworld.com/Home_GardenSceneStory.asp?ID=060930_Ho_D1_Livet37062#

Anybody else take notice of the buried article in TodazeWorld about the terrorist attack on Reproduction Services and Cox? Ok, it was an innoculous white powder so it misses a good location in the rag. But still, in today's world, hardly a mention.
