I was down there last night too.  Blake has hit a home run! Out of the park I tell you!  This place will do well.  The attention to detail is outstanding.  Good lord, he had He-man on the projector!!  Looking forward to my next evening down there.

I went by about 8:30 tonight. The place was pretty crowded and it was a nice mix of older hippies and young hipsters. I think it was smoke-free which I love.

I got a Crown and diet Coke that was served in a big iced tea glass for $6 and sat at the bar. The place is not fancy with a concrete floor and plain wood bar. The bar had a row of TVs from the 70s all turned to different period TV shows. I sat down at the end and saw that they had Guiness on tap as well as Stella. They had others, but I didn't pay much attention.

I like the feel. Many people were playing oldtime video games...the owner was everywhere...smoozing with the customers and occasionally beating a bunch of guys at Skeeball. I played Space Invaders.

This is my new favorite downtown bar.

Thats a pretty good review.

I played Space Invaders but I am used to the "shooting" not the rocket you have to navigate.

hello

Just to clarify, is this only 21 and up to enter?

I went saturday night.  I loved it.  Played some Tron, and attempted to play Mortal Kombat (guess I could only play it in the 90's), and had a beer.  I just didn't like the standing room only crowd.  Once it calms down some, I'm sure to return.

Any Foosball tables ? Or am I asking for to much.

The max is too jammed full of awesome at this time for a Foosball table.  There is the ability to expand in the back once it gets going.  There are quite a few seats in the place but on a busy Saturday night it is tough to find a place.  There were some open bar stools here and there on Friday people weren't sitting it but some of it was due to having 1 space in the middle of a few people.  Also on Friday at the busiest I noticed there was actually a few open tables with nobody seated at them.

I went on Saturday night and had a few beers, played some games, listened to some live music. Awesome place for sure. I'm positive it'll do well.

Foosball?... Heh heh.

I snookered many people out of their money in the day.  I was an OK state champion in my class (rookie/amateur) in 1986.  Not sure how well the elbows will hold up, but quit when people started using that stupid 'rollover' shot.  I still contend it's illegal.

Is there an old school basketball game?  The kind with a rim and everything and a bunch of small cheap balls.  I used to frequent a place in Dallas known as the Timeout Tavern which had one of these.  It was tons of fun.

Yes

Thanks. I was trying to find the operating hours and a couple articles said the Max was "family friendly."

Hoss was you ever at 31st and Garnett Tornado of Tulsa ? I played many a tournament there and at the old Camelot inn. Also played some at Wizards on Sheridan and then Ridge riders across the street. I had a partner named Chief and our best competitor was a guy named Keeter, it didnt matter who he partnered with he was bad A**

Didn't play there much (a tad before my time; I got good rather quickly) but did know a guy who was a regular there; Mike Spencer.  He has since passed, but he taught me quite a bit about the game.

My haunts from that period up until the early nineties were Jungle Safari (Admiral and Memorial) and Shots (11th Garnett; it's now the back part of the Drug Warehouse).  Also played a little after moving back at Billiard Palace on 21st & Memorial from '94 to about '97, when I got bursitis in my elbow something terrible.

Met my ex-wife at the Jungle; she wound up as a barmaid for Shots just as we started dating.
