Perhaps I should break out my grandfather's old Folgers coffee can and use that as my bank under the backyard oak. [:(!]

This direction we are heading, in terms of our personal protections, really sucks. Damn the corporations and their always getting their way.

Chase Bank Sucks!!!!  My mother used to bank there.  She wrote a $25.00 check to my son for his birthday.  We were driving by on our way to the mall.  We stopped in and Chase wanted a service charge to cash the check on their own bank.  This should be against the law.  I declined and just took $25.00 out of the ATM at QT which my bank makes free.  Gave it to my son.  My mother closed her account and cashed out her CD's when they matured.  We will never use any Chase services.

We are going to close out all out accounts also. Chase is just too big and too impersonal for our tastes.

Artist, you don't have to do the auto-withdrawl. The BOA website lets you set up payees and pay them when you want to. You can also sign up for ebilling from most common payees (ONG, AEP, AT&T, Credit cards, mortgages) and BOA will show when the ebill is due, how much you owe and how much you paid the prior month. You can also view the ebill directly at the BOA site and request that the biller discontinue mailing the paper statement (saves trees).

Another thing you can do is link your BOA checking and savings accounts so if you overdraft the money is automatically transferred to cover it. No more OD fees.

You all seem to overlook the basic fact that banks are no longer 'banks', that is, safe places to put your money.

Just as 'loans' are no longer loans, they're collateralized transactions.

A bank is simply a transaction facilitator.
Like PayPal, only not as good.

Why would anyone even bank at a BANK..use a credit union..we have plenty of local based options that give you AWESOME customer service and actually will know your name when you come in....and it keeps the money local...Oklahoma Central Credit union just merged with wilserv(formerly williams credit union) and I think now has 10 branches across Tulsa and Broken arrow....plus the online banking feature is awesome..real time transfers etc....

Zstyles...We live in Chimney Hills at 91st and Sheridan. Do you know of a good Credit Union close to that location? We want to move from Chase within the week. Do they have debit cards and ATM usage?

I always understood banks don't really check the signatures on checks there are just too many. You can sign it "Micky Mouse" and it'll go thru.
