The only problem with QT is I have gotten quite ill after eating some of their food.  The first time was one of their hot dogs and I think it was because of the bun warmer.  That steamy bin is a haven for bacteria.

I also got ill after eating one of their Jalapeno Sausage rolls that made me bed-ridden for at least 20+ hours.  I won't be eating anything there with a roll or bun around it.[xx(]  As far as their Taquitos go, I have probably eaten more of those than anything. Not because I find them extremely tasty, but more convenient than anything. I would still like a Lamar Sundae though. [:(]

I've eaten about everything, more than once. Tried QT Pizza yesterday which was pretty good too. Even their fruit cup things are surprisingly good.

I have at home a glass that I won on KRAV back in the mid 80's that is white on the outside with a red QT sign on it. When you put ice and liquid into it a picture of Lamar and paw prints appears bcause of the cold.

I still don't understand how self-serve food like taquitos and hot dogs is allowed by the health dept.  No telling what someone gets on one of those when they are pawing around trying to find the one they like.  I used to get the hot dogs all the time until I really thought about the, uh, public nature of them.

I like the sausage rolls, but you may have scared me off eating another one.

I kid you not.  That was what I ate and I got VIOLENTLY ill.  Not just a small stomache ache.  I was in the bathroom every 10 minutes for over 17 hours of the ordeal.  I couldn't sleep and had the worst stomach pain and chills.  I didn't realize someone could feel that awful and that was the worst I ever felt.  This was just two weeks ago. I'm a little disheartened because I used to eat those about 3-4 times a week on the way to work.

Well, look at it this way, maybe you will get a little less cholesterol in your diet.[8D]

I had a hot ham & cheese sandwich from a Love's down near Altus about 20 years ago that gave me the same symptoms you described.  I laid in bed for two days praying God would just kill me and get it over with. [xx(]

QuikTrip has really changed the perception of the convenience store in the markets it serves.  Many people actually perceive their gasoline to be of a higher quality than than other gas stations.  Most QT employees are actually friendly, and cops frequent QTs to get thier complementary coffee, which makes customers feel safe at night.  QT does about the best job of marketing I have ever seen in the convenience store industry.  Some QT customers' brand loyalty is so well developed that they will risk running out of gas, passing several other gas stations, in search of QT.

All they need now is to offer barf bags with some of their eats.

OK HERE'S A QUESTION FOR ALL OF YOU:

When you decide to get a Taquito-Pizza Roll-Egg Roll, do you use the filthy tongs or do you use your fingers to pick up the food?  I would say that I have for the most part used the tongs.  However, there have been times that those tongs were coated in some nasty brown stuff and I admit to carefully picking up a Taquito without touching anything else.

Sounds gross?  Try looking at some of those tongs later in the day.[xx(] I feel uneasy doing that if someone sees me like I am contaminating the food or being non-hygienic but its either that or get nothing.

Oh the pressures....

Relax, Rowdy. Perhaps the bacteria-encrusted tongs  inoculate you against disease. [}:)]

Seriously, though, QuikTrips pretty much put other convenience stores to shame. The story from dbacks fan equals what I saw in the St. Louis area when QT came in -- it forced the other stores clean up their acts.

My favorite convenience store name: There was a Wag-A-Bag on U.S. 51 in Southern Illinois, in Patoka, I think it was. I'm not sure whether it's still there.

And not two or three years later Kum and Go bought Git n Go and here we are. I'm sure there are visitors to Tulsa that do exactly the same thing that I did.

+1.

Quiktrip's service is so good that I haven't even stopped in at a Kum n Go, and probably never will.

What shocks me even further is that people even apply to work there. Quiktrip is supposed to be one of the top 500 companies in the nation to work for, and--unlike Kum and Go--you don't have to feel like a porn-shop attendant when in uniform.

The use of three Ks in a diner name is not exclusive to Oklahoma.  It can be found throughout several southern states.

Hmmm. That's interesting.  I have never seen it that way before and was wondering if they did the 3 Ks on purpose.

Case in point; the new QT that is in my town of Hurst (Tx) is located on the corner of a major area, but it is a pain in the A__ to get into. For one, you can only enter from one direction only (South to North). I've seen people go through two traffic lights in the opposite direction, passing other convenience stores, only to turn around at the first available opportunity to make the end run into QT. I know because I do this as well. The parking lot of this place is always full, and is about to run the Racetrack up the street out of business.
