Find me a city that assesses local income tax in Oklahoma.

Cities are allowed to have an income tax in Oklahoma, but I don't think any do.
Pitter-patter, let's get at 'er

So Tulsa becomes the bedroom community? Work in Pryor and spend your money in Tulsa.  Doesn't sound like a bad deal.

You can figure out the concessions Google was able to demand. I just hope whatever they do/build there doesn't become"old tech" too soon.

You're right... no local income tax. I guess living in three other states has made me think that Oklahoma would have been similar.

Reading in the Tulsey World a few days ago I learned that north of Pryor on highway 69 is the largest venue in four states.

If Google casts up a mountain, perhaps they can also build a grove, and rear up an image of Baal too: then everyone that trusts in the shadow of Egypt can flock to it.

Ezekiel 11:2

".......Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city: (v.3)  Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh."

Build images, build houses, build forts, build temples.  Let us build, taking no thought nor sabbath for any of the workers: because MEN say the judgement written is not near.

Link to news story related to new Google farm in western Carolina.  This may provide insight into what may happen in Pryor soon.

I wonder if the average salary will be similar here.  I can't imagine that the cost of living in western N. Carolina is much different from here.  If the salaries are close this will be a nice infusion of decent jobs.  If this happens -- great.

yeah, cause no way in hell is some IT guy gonna commute 30 minutes to tulsa when he can live in the mecca of pryor just 5 minutes away...

from the midamerica webby... "Also, a significant number of workers commute to jobs out-of-county each day, according to the 2000 Census. In 2000, 4,789 workers commuted from Mayes County to jobs in other counties, an increase of 42.8% from 1990. Thus, an employer also has an opportunity to attract these workers. And our workforce travels to work nearly 26 minutes per day, which is above the state average. However, over 36% of the workforce travels 30 minutes or more"

midamerica is a tulsa asset and that is how it is marketed to companies...

Good point, Bruno!!!!  It is not uncommon in larger MSA's for workers to travel an hour or more to and from work each day.  Tulsa's entertainment, shopping, and dining businesses stand to potentially gain from any Mid-America expansion.  Additionally, Tulsa industries related to activity going on at the Mid-America park stand to gain from the increased customer base.  Tulsa is a regional trade hub.

rhymnrzn - what in the hell are you talking about?

Also, on a point of order, Google is not based in Seattle, its based in Mountain View, California.

As per the possible work available in Pryor, it will be just like working for Google anywhere else.  They take *VERY* good care of their people and expect Google to be a part of their lifestyle.  Work hard, play hard kind of thing:
http://www.google.com/corporate/culture.html

I'm sure most of the people would like in Tulsa.  IF they did or did not, what's good for our region is good for Tulsa.  Though having Google occupy one of the old buildings downtown and actually USE it would simply rule.

As per Google or Anheuser, I'd prefer Google's great paying jobs. But lets get greedy and hope for both.

Its also probably worth noting from the NC article:

"The state plans to give the company $4.8 million as a part of a total incentives package that could reach more than $100 million."

Wow.  It will take 10 years of payroll just to infuse that much money back into the state.  I hope Oklahoma didnt get suckered into a $100MILLION package.
