The two shell companies are named on bodies of water in New South Wales. Pretty reasonable they are related. Best to use geographic names like that for companies that will be "thrown away" later.

Both are incorporated by "Corporation Service Company" last year. This is a company google has used in the past.

Chances are, a full data center(not a googlepop). Too bad someone with a brain didn't lure them downtown, there is a much higher fiber presence.

So let me get this straight. Tulsa is going to house the people, but Pryor is getting all the taxes. Anyone else see a problem? I mean great, a lot of people will want to move to Tulsa and then be transported to Pryor five days out of the week (assuming this is what is done)... but WHY?! Did they install a huge server out in Pryor?

Your absolutely wrong, its the exact opposite infact..

Suburbs have been housing tulsa workers for years. We are a younger couple with a child and everyone I know with kids DO NOT WANT TO LIVE IN TULSA, reason being are the schools, 2nd being the crime.

Wrinkle

Besides, there's lots of room out there for new subdivisions, and a lake within 5 minutes. Pretty countryside, soon to be paved.

As for the 'Tulsa Asset' aspect, that's our regionalism at work. Not necessarily bad in this case, but the money and effort applied to things non-Tulsa around here (by Tulsa's leadership) is absurd. Remember LaFortune's Vice-Mayor Steve Sewell (who, at the same time was Economic Development Director for Owasso)? Our Boards, Authorities and Commissions are stocked full of similar interets, much of which is paid for by Tulsans.

If our leaders took a Tulsa first position, we'd have a darn good city here. Instead, it seems, they spend much of their time, and a lot our resources peeling off what they can from Tulsa.

Not trying to be unneighborly, but I'm also tired of hearing our Mayor's sole mission is to increase taxes (she calls it 'revenue') because all aspects of the City are underfunded.

I wonder why.

Short rant. Somewhat topical.

I think they are more interested in cheaper electricity from the GRDA (with a portion of that being the green kind - hydroelectric).

yeah, unlike Poorly Servicing Oklahomans (PSO) who plans ANOTHER rate increase in may.  8%?  pancakes!  the natural gas that they use to power their generators hasn't went up 8%, its actually went down!  I hope the corp commission says no.  greedy bastards.

cannon_fodder

They want the rate increase to fund clean coal experiments on their plants in Eastern Oklahoma.  Everyone wants to live 'green' but nobody wants to pay for it.

I'll take either Google or Anheuser.  But certainly it would have been nice to get the data center downtown. But I think Google builds new...

GRDA using hydro is nice, but they seem to be expanding themselves well beyond their original purpose....

Google Makes It Official -- It's Coming To Pryor

Google To Make Pryor Plans Official Next Week
Pryor - The City of Pryor is about to get a big boost from the Internet giant Google.

Wednesday morning, officials from the company officially announced plans to invest 600-million dollars in the area to build a massive data center that will house scores of computers.

The facility will eventually employ upwards of two hundred people with an average salary of 48-thousand dollars. Construction is set to begin shortly with the first phase completed by next summer.

Just eight years old, Google employs some 12-thousand people worldwide.

$600M investment is great for NE oklahoma. Too bad it is a data center only but 200 IT jobs will make a real impact on the area that has had a surplus of IT help.

I think my property value in Bixby went up $1.43 this year due to this news.
