Google is NOT what I heard.  Google doesnt even really even seem to fit.

The new plant is going to be BIGGER than the Gatorade plant that is going in at 1.5 Million Square Feet.  Google's corporate headquarters is just over 1 million square feet.  A server farm requires about 2 square feet per server (they run server cabinets, not individual boxes).  So unless Google is going into manufacturing or distribution of some kind or my sources are horribly wrong - I'd have to say probably not on Google.

Not to mention, where are they going to hire 1,000 IT technicians to work in Pryor?

I work in the IT field and if they pay was right I would consider moving back to Okla. I could live in Pryor easily, and it's not that far to Tulsa or the new shopping mecca of Owasso.

just a backgrounder, google buses their workers to work.  amazon currently has a shuttle from tulsa to coffeyville.  pryor doesnt have to provide the workers....but you know they would prefer they live there and not tulsa.

so wouldnt the county assessor have information on the sale of the land?

All the articles Ive read on their data center they recently built at The Dalles, Oregon said Design LLC was the purchaser of the land there.

i cant speculate on how large those buildings are, but they easily pass as manufacturing type activities.

I pray this, Lord: DON'T LET IT BE WALMART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amen.

Well, to stick my foot in my mouth...

Google has announced *interest* in a data center in the park.  No details were released (wont even say how serious they were thinking about it).

Now I have to wait and see if my sources were correct on ANOTHER development going in out there or if they were just dead wrong.

So let me get this straight. Tulsa is going to house the people, but Pryor is getting all the taxes. Anyone else see a problem? I mean great, a lot of people will want to move to Tulsa and then be transported to Pryor five days out of the week (assuming this is what is done)... but WHY?! Did they install a huge server out in Pryor?

Chicken Little

Think Google will do free wi-fi for Pryor?

It bears repeating again, cities get very little property tax, except for infrastructure bond issues. Sales taxes fund cities, so more people, more taxes. It's that simple.
Pitter-patter, let's get at 'er

yeah, cause no way in hell is some IT guy gonna commute 30 minutes to tulsa when he can live in the mecca of pryor just 5 minutes away...

from the midamerica webby... "Also, a significant number of workers commute to jobs out-of-county each day, according to the 2000 Census. In 2000, 4,789 workers commuted from Mayes County to jobs in other counties, an increase of 42.8% from 1990. Thus, an employer also has an opportunity to attract these workers. And our workforce travels to work nearly 26 minutes per day, which is above the state average. However, over 36% of the workforce travels 30 minutes or more"

midamerica is a tulsa asset and that is how it is marketed to companies...
"It costs a fortune to look this trashy..."
"Don't believe in riches but you should see where I live..."

just a reality check, this wont be the Seattle google, it will be the Pryor google.  Just like coffeyville amazon is not the seattle amazon.  i dont think working for them here will be all its cracked up to be.

being close to a major level3 hub doesnt hurt either.
