What's the name of it?  I think it's west of Kilkenny's?  Anyone eaten there?  Good?

Sounds like a trick question.
West of Kilkennys = Chimi's
I would refer to this area as "Cherry Street"

Downtown and west of McNellies = El Guapo and Mexically.

Casa Laredo just opened up in the Adams Buidling downtown.

Mexicali on Main Street.  I didn't care for El Guapo's much.

Near, but not in downtown(both more authentic):

Casa Verde: I-244 & Utica somewhere.
Los Americanos: Somewhere around 3rd and Lewis.

"Rio Verde" is just north of 2-44 on Trenton (west of Utica).

I really like El Guapo and I'm a Mexican food snob.  It's not the best I've ever had, but it's a fun place and the food is better than most in the area.

Mexicali=[xx(].  I'm just waiting for them to sell that place and put something decent in.  It might work for a stupid chain restaurant.

Casa Laredo is decent.  I grew up liking the location at 41st and Peoria.  It's really crowded at lunch.  Haven't been for dinner at the new location.

It was El Guapo that I was thinking of...can you tell I don't go downtown very often!

A friend of mine is going to be in town doing some business in downtown Tulsa and wanted to meet for lunch, but I'm so unfamiliar with what's downtown or even if I'm going to be able to find a parking spot!

Suggestions, anyone?

I'll give my endorsement to El Guapo as well. Very tasty food, fun atmosphere, and strong margaritas. :)

I didn't know Elote served food.  I always leave there hungry.  I want to see them do well, but it's also not anywhere on the radar with those prices for those portions.

The parking is different these days.  They now have metered parking on the street running in front of McNellie's and that kind of killed my never fail free parking plan downtown (if I couldn't park in my garage for whatever reason, I'd park there and get a beer on the way home).

You're pretty much on your own.  Give yourself some time to look around.  You'll probably want some change for a meter.  If not, you'll have to walk.

always fills me up, then again I'm not a fat okie pig either.

No, you are quite a few other four letter words.  I'm no pig, but I do run a lot and get hungry in the middle of the day as a result.  Last time I ate there, I bought half a sandwich on the way back.  It's neat what they are trying to do, but it kind of needs to be re-thought.

Some of us actually work out pretty hard and have high caloric requirements.

Elote does great catering. We have used them a couple of times and were very pleased.
