People!!!

We really need this hospital in Tulsa. Why have we not heard one single word from Mayor Kathy Taylor? Helloooooooooo, where are you at???

OSU Medical Center (or whatever it would be called if it stayed open) has 34 ICU beds that are full most of the time. I want to know where those patients are going to be when this facility closes. This "voucher system" that Boren and OU are speaking of does not include inpatients OSU MC currently provides care for. The specialty chronic care being spoke of is not the major concern. The real concern is for the critically ill, car accidents, rural patients that arrive at OSU MC on a regular basis. Where are these patients going to go in the future? It is going to be interesting to sit by and watch.

Why doesn't Ardent just absorb the cost of operating this hospital? Ardent has the money, use it for a write-off and shut the hell up already!! They make enough money over at Hillcrest and they knew when they made the purchase of Hillcrest Healthcare that this was part of the package, now deal with it. Don't put all these patients and employees out of a home.

You blame the Mayor?

Why don't you blame everybody unrelated to the issue?

I blame Sarah Palin, Jessie Jackson, and Hannah Montana.
Power is nothing till you use it.

You know recyclemichael, I think your an idiot!!

I am not blaming Kathy Taylor, I just think it's really screwed up that she simply has not got a thing to say about something that is not only going on in HER city, but also in HER downtown area. SAY SOMETHING!!!!

Oh, I forgot, the name of the place is not BOK CENTER!!!!!!

FOTD

The blame goes to Richard Nixon another repiglican who during his regime opened up the health care system in this country to Big Pharma and privatization.

When are you going to get smart and realize these types have no idea about what's good for the taxpayer/citizen. But they sure carry the corporate world's water.

St. John's and Hillcrest will be the worse for this closure. And what becomes of the property?
Hotel site?

MH2010

Maybe she can buy them some segways.

Why should she?  If it's being mismanaged as a business sometimes can, what is she going to do about it.  I sure hope not throw taxpayer money at it.

It kind of stinks, but these hospitals charge so much to begin with it's tough to even believe that they'd even go out of business.  I'm guessing their profit margin is quite a bit larger than the average business.

waterboy

I know what Jonette is saying though. She might spend some of her pr account to acknowledge the potential loss to the city of this business.

When I worked for the newspaper I remember our ad director working hard to bring awareness to area Rotary, Chamber, and other business associations what the loss of big players does to the whole city. Sometimes its helpful to use your position to lobby for some recognition of a private business that has such big effect.

She's done it before for AA and others. Wouldn't hurt.

comrade marx, is that you?

its fair play... its business baby...
i posted the day that ardent came to town, they'd do everything in their power to dump trmc...

your ire should be directed at the state officials who never saw fit to fund a public hospital in t-town...
"It costs a fortune to look this trashy..."
"Don't believe in riches but you should see where I live..."

Believe me, whatever is happening now is well orchestrated and includes at least the blessing of our Mayor. Whether or not it to punish Ardent for not playing well, they could easily be on 'Plan C' which involves bankrupting the operation so that it can then be purchased at $0.10/$1.00 by taxpayers and given to someone to operate, probably OSU.

They do this stuff all the time. btw, does the City own the Tulsa Club yet?

sgrizzle

I've never known anyone to have a positive statement about Ardent. I interviewed for a job their once when it was TRMC and the place was woefully out of date. Supposedly hundreds of millions to get it to the state it should be in. I visited a doctor there last year and of the 20 or so chairs in the waiting room, no more than two matched.

The city did clean up Tulsa Club(hallelujah), but I haven't heard anything about seizing it yet.

Thanks. Your opinion and proper spelling mean so much to me.

Why stop with the Mayor? Do you demand statements from state representative Lucky Lamons? How about State Senator Tom Adelson? How about Governor Brad Henry?

They each actually have a role in this. But you probably don't know who they are and just demand the Mayor get involved because you know who she is.

This sounds to me that the problem lies within the state budget and relationships between OU and OSU medical departments. Ardent stepped in and made it worse.

This topic has been discussed on this forum for some time. Brunoflipper called it from the beginning.

Ardent is a private business, just like the thousands of private businesses in Tulsa. They will succeed or fail based on many factors, the least of which is a public statement from city hall about their business problems.

I don't know what you expect the Mayor to say. Please explain yourself.

We can't read your mind, so if we ask questions about your statements, it might be because we are curious (or it might be because we are an idiot).
Power is nothing till you use it.

I am sure you all know that I KNOW the Oklahoma Legislature are the REAL blame for all this OSU Medical Center drama. I AM NOT STUPID!!!  But we would sure like Kathy Taylor to at least acknowledge that she has some idea what the hell is going on and that she has attended at least one meeting on the issue. Her apparent "don't give a ****" attitude does not bode well.

Ardent obviously is only a business and I am aware that they really don't care about patients, only the money they can get from them.

Also Recyclemichael, I said your an idiot because you couldn't simply respond to my comment, but you had to be an a** also.

It's all OKAY though. Maybe something will actually be done about this whole thing when the Mayor or someone really important does not get an ICU bed because there are not enough in this city.

Also, Thank You Waterboy. That's really all we're asking.

As far as all the chairs matching. Who cares, I've been to some of the fancier facilities in town and although their equipment is great, their bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired.

We will sit and watch what happens.

i love ardent.
there you go.
you've got one...

they are no different than any other big business, corporate medical establishment (i.e. omni, warren)... overall, no better but no worse... anyone who thinks differently is delusional or uninformed...

anecdotaly, i've heard they "take care of" their docs better than the other local players... but ultimately it is all a game, and money is the motivation...

at least that is what i heard...

it is beerthirty... i'm out for now...

your: possessive; belonging to you.

you're: a contraction for "you are" as in "you are an idiot!"

This will help you for the next time you realize that someone is an idiot and you need to point it out to them.

Keirasmommy

I don't care much for OSU medical center. My mom had an aneurysm and they damn near killed her. They gave her way to many different medicines in 3 days and no water I.V. And she was pretty much unconcious. All the medicine mixed together and her system wasn't being flushed. So the medicine had a chemical reaction which caused her to have an allergic reation. And that made her have a stroke! She died for a couple of minutes because of it. Luckily they brought her back! I wouldn't send a sick rat there. Sorry.
