What are the odds?

I've driven between 51st to 61st regularly for about 40yrs,(my gawd, I am that old..) but never had what happened to me today. I was hit by a golf ball from LaFortune right on top of the roof of my car. Sounded like a gun shot or another car hitting me.

Someone should give up the game if they can't do any better than that! The tee there runs to the South I believe. And who should I sue? I'm thinking massive mental anguish, cause the old Trooper was already damaged pretty good up there.[]

If you can prove damage file a claim with your insuance and turn it over to The City Of Tulsa Parks Department.

I knew some one with the parks dept. about 15 or 20 years ago, and found out this is more common than you might think. I think he said they averaged 10 to 20 windshield replacements a year and this was in the late 80's early 90's. The discussion came up because Ford was just beginning to sell cars with an electric defrost element in the front window of cars and the replacement cost for them was about $1800 at the time.

The ironic part of it all is that the person who hit the ball is legally responsible for covering the damages. You should have gotten out of the car and yelled at them. [^] But yeah, it is VERY common, and the city should be able to cover some of the cost. I would do it soon, though. I'm sure that there is a brief time limit on claims.

As for mental damages, contact one of those guys you see on the TV ads or billboards on the side of the highway. I'm sure they'll want to fry Tulsa for what its got. I mean, they're going to buy the stinking Wiltel building. You know they've got some cash.

LaFortune is a county park.  Which is good, cuz I imagine they have deeper pockets.[]

That's all good advice, thanks. I guess I'm old school. The vehicle already had pretty good damage and is nearly 17 years old. There is a little dink where it hit but no real damage. Good to know that there is recourse should it do real damage in the future. Just another tricky day, for me.

Yeah, it really startled me. I hit the brakes, veered a bit and looked back to my right to see if another car had hit me or shot at me and saw the little white ball bouncing. Since the traffic is pretty fast on that stretch, I didn't think of stopping.

I really got into that one. It went about six hundred yards. I think I hit a nine iron, but it might have been a wedge.

The best part of the story is that I took a drop and hit it right next to the pin. Made a par.

Some people are crappy golfers like myself and sometimes a ball goes astray.  But I have seen teen-aged kids hitting chili peppers out onto Yale from time-to-time along the par 3 course.
