Did anybody else catch the story on the back page of the first section of the Tuilsa World today?

It was a story about how the Broken Arrow police answered some ads in Urban Tulsa and arrested two prostitutes at a local hotel.

The story was small, but the Tulsa World managed to get the words "Urban Tulsa" in three times. Do you think that there was a little competitive feelings going on there?

Silly me. I thought these massage places were staffed with all highly trained physical therapists with degrees in anatomy and related sciences.

Turns out, they all wear hot pants.
Power is nothing till you use it.

The untold part of that is how many massages did the city of BA just pay for? And how do you get that job?

Urban Tulsa - Sex

Not sure if they harmed UT or did it a favor.

The BPD must have plenty of time on their hands that they can go after misdemeanor? offenses in Tulsa...

Wonder if this was their top Detectives that were able to unravel this criminal activity that has confounded the experts for soooo long.?

Would have been nice if the same officers had been able to devote the same amount of time to helping with some violent crime= gang activity, homicides, etc.

But I do not think they would have gotten the same reward out of that...

What happened to the "johns"? I bet they weren't arrested.

BA has a vigorous undercover squad - witnessed by all the pot growers busted over the years (and whaaaaat about that misdirected cell phone call? hmmmmmm . . .)

Is prostitution in its purest form a victimless crime? Maybe UT's moneygrubbing is trying to send us all a message.  What is the sliding python boogie but a massage, anyway?

I liked this part:

"We got a tip that they were working prostitution out of that advertising." - Maj. Mark Irwin

Why would it take a tip to figure that out. Isn't it common knowledge? (Sketchy looking massage ads= prostitution)

I am just happy the story has a happy ending.

Yes I was going to say the same thing.  I guess crime is so low in the great police state of Broken Arrow that they have time to fight crime in Tulsa.  How about helping Tulsa out with its gang or drug problems?  Prostitution is pretty low on TPDs list, but I'm sure it made the BAPD look really good in the eyes of its bible thumpin citizens.

It doesnt say BA police are targeting crimes in Tulsa, only that they were persuing people who posted ads in the Urban Tulsa publication.

I'm guessing some sort of jurisdictional selection was made on places in Broken Arrow.  If not, then I agree that is odd for them to care to, or even be legally able to, police Tulsa massage parlors.

well, and if thats the case then i guess all of the providers will have to move out of BA and to an area where TPD just doesnt give a ****.  I thought I44/11th st was the traditional haunt anyways.

BAPD was calling the numbers from UT ads, they were "outcall" services, so the prostitutes would come to a hotel in BA, that's why BA was doing it.  They were keeping them out of their town, not going after Tulsa parlors, and yes, I guess they have nothing better to do in BA.  Of course, TPD does stings like this all the time.  The people around 11 & Elgin/Peoria area have been very vocal about the prostitution in their area, so TPD works that area often.

Very true, I think it would be better if the police put adverts out and arrested the people waiting in the hotel. If people got wind of that move any trade would dry up pretty sharpish.

There is a reason BA is one of the safest cities in the nation.

in that case they were creating crime and in essence they were padding their numbers.  how pathetic.

"They were keeping them out of their town..."

By inviting them there they brought them to their town....stupid.  If this was gun or drug trafficing Id be worried, but the only crime committed was a guy getting his rocks off.

They need to spend more time busting pedophiles down at the roller rink and let adults be adults.

sgrizzle

Bussing in criminals to arrest them does sorta skew things.

Somewhere, someone is trying to figure out how their arrest numbers are higher than the population.
