Wow, maybe we really CAN make Tulsa famous with an island...

Great--now if we could just move the island to Tulsa, we could save around $700 million.  Or maybe for $700 million, the entire city could spend a week in Fiji!

Not a laughing matter really..... I have been in touch with the "Army Corps of Engineers" about this very subject..

They have assured me "it can be done.."

Complete with salt water and dancing girls in grass skirts if........the "Price is Right .."

You should ask the French for help with that one. No other country in the world has developed quite as much skill in moving South Pacific Islands about, although they do use nuclear weapons.

Of course, the Corps said anything could be done  if you had enough money. I say we moved the satue of liberty, the golden gate bridge, and mount rushmore here. That'll bring tourists.

This actually brings up the question I am thinking of asking this Tuesday at the public hearing.

What is the cost of the Island?

Not including the cost of the dam, the beach, ferries, shoreline hardening and beautification, pollution clean up, solar canopy, fountain/ice skating rink, docks, or any of the other things, but just the islands.

There seems to be a number of people who like the idea of having a lake that can have small boats on it.  And there are other parts of the plan that some may like as well.  Its just that those Islands seem like they would be very expensive compared to development on the banks.

Its really not 700 million for the islands. But what is the cost?

Those who think it is a luxury have only a fragment of a mind. Mans spirit grows hungry for art in the same way h

OK, it'd be nice to have Mt. Rushmore down there. It'd make us feel right at home when we move there.[:P]

I know that I've been pretty negative the last twenty postings or so, but this has me feeling not so confident that the people in Tulsa are even remotely for the idea:

When an article has very little information on the general concensus at the meeting, I have a feeling that there was something the reporters didn't want to express.

cracks me up that the "supporter" quote just happens to come from a monte cassino mom who loves the lamberts...

Cracked me up that it didn't make any sense. She, and many of the channel supporters, are using the 3-phase business plan made famous by South Park's underpants gnomes:

1. Build islands
2. ???
3. Prosperity

AVERAGE JOE

The supporters of the Channels basically seem to be behind it for the sole reason that it's a "big" idea.

Doesn't make it a good idea. Or a practical idea. Or an effective idea. Or a financially sound idea.

Rico

I realize their are very few facts that have been confirmed regarding the "islands"....

I happened to make a contact within the inner sanctum of the stakeholders... and was able to uncover the following "start of a mock up of the islands"

I doubt anyone will be able to tell they are not real.......

This could change the face of the future... we could build all future islands away from the perils of the ocean and all those natural hazards out there... Hurricanes, tidal waves, tourists, etc.......
