I work in and around downtown, and I have noticed a sharp increase in graffiti.  The Tulsa Club, the old Amoco building at 6th and Cincy, the modernist Drive in bank at 7th and Boston, and the McFarlin have all been hit recently.

Not that the person or persons doing this are reading this forum, but if per chance you are, cut it out.  I understand the whole "urban" art thing, but this offends me, and is disrespectful of the artist who designed the building.

The question I have is this: if you are making a political statement, or rebelling against your suburban, midwest, conservative upbringing, why choose our finest pieces of architecture as your canvas?  If you really want to get people's goat, go tag Starbucks, or your orthodontist's office, or that cookie-cutter snout-house in which you grew up.  In fact, I challenge you to tag a whole subdivision of cookie-cutter snout-houses.  That would be a protest.

Bottom line, it's not cool to eff up the stuff that makes the place you hate to live a little more tolerable.
