I've been trying to dig up information on some really junk sci-fi shows that came out in the early to mid-90's when sci-fi had some sort of popularity surge on tv. Most of it was cannon fodder. There are a few series I can't remember that I've been trying to find info on because no-one believes me.. The may have both been from disney. They were very "family oriented."

1. A geek and a hasslehoof type fight criminals in a high-speed boat called (and looks like) the blackbird. Knight Rider on water. Obvious complications when bad guys are generally amphibious.
2. Show where a spaceship, being the "last hope for mankind" or something is sent into deep space. Because the trip would take so long, they staff it with teenagers because adults would die of old age on the way.

Anyone remember those?

Some other gems from the same era:
Space Rangers - I just remember the crotchety old lady bossing around the generic characters and plotlines.
Seaquest - First season - boat going around a peaceful planet, Second season - same boat world war, third season - same boat now with aliens.
VR5 - Woman is able to plug into people's brains using a computer and a 300baud modem complete with acoustic coupler
Time Trax - Time Traveller with a holigraphic pentecostal sidekick captures criminals with his car remote.

Survivors of the era:
Quantum Leap, Babylon 5
