From KOTV

quote:
An extraordinary find at the University of Tulsa is drawing some attention.

Graduate student, Mark Dolph came across a rare map while he was working on his graduate project a few months ago.

The 1822 map of North America was found in the university's special collections library. The university said they weren't aware they owned such a map. It is hand tinted with large and detailed engravings of the Virginia Natural Bridge, Niagara Falls and various animals found in the American west.

Mark Dolph: "Maps aren't just mirrors of the topography of a landscape. They are text of the culture that produced them."

The map is in superb condition. Only a few libraries in the world own maps similar to this one.
