Actually, the REAL question is EAT or drive?  Party's OVER, suckaaaaaaas!  Will the REAL Village IDIOT please STAND Up?  Reality....BITES.

The number of motorists who have hit empty has jumped nearly 50 percent this year, says AAA.

High fuel prices have left Oklahoma drivers stranded with no money, no gas cans and no gas.

The number of motorists who have hit empty on Tulsa-area streets and highways has jumped nearly 50 percent this year over last, according to AAA Oklahoma.

Chuck Mai, a spokesman with the travel club, said that many AAA members are rounding corners hoping that they will find lower gas prices.

"A lot of people are thinking that at some point gas prices are going to come down again," he said. "Unfortunately, sometimes they get caught short."

Mike Thornbrugh, a spokesman with Tulsa-based QuikTrip, said he was "sick to his stomach" after the close of trading.

"This thing is totally out of control," he said. "It is not being driven by supply and demand. It's being driven by greedy speculator bastards."

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said it has also seen an increase in calls from stranded motorists who have run out of gas and, at current fuel prices, can't afford to buy more.

A Tulsa man died Thursday night, hours after he crashed his bike in Okmulgee County.

Paul Tay of Tulsa, 32, lost control of his bicycle on a gravel road near Henryetta about 5:45 p.m., according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report.

Tay was ejected about 30 feet off his bike when his Schwinn 10 speed left the road to the right, hit a tree and caught fire, troopers reported. He was taken to Tulsa's St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 8:45 p.m.  Dr's said it was a case unlike any other they had seen.  The cause of death was blunt force trauma, but found the deceased to be missing most of his brain.  Dr's went on to stress the importance of wearing a helmet while cycling even though your chances of survival are slim if you are struck by a moving vehicle.

geeeeez, I must have slept good last night. I had this really weird dream about some guy in a santa suit riding a bike and dying? It couldn't be true.  People don't die on bicycles, only in motor vehicle accidents.  It had to have been a dream.

At least no one else got hurt.

Obviously, troopers AREN'T physicists.  To be ejected 30 feet after slipping on gravel, in the middle of the night, would require a moving speed approximately 35 mph.

Also, bicyclists are NOT 'ejected,' after slipping on gravel.  They skid, leave a short bloody trail on the road, and gain 'strawberries' on the hip.

A couple of aspirins usually numbs the temporary pain.  Douse wound with hydrogen peroxide, PROFUSELY.  Sleep naked uncomfortably for a couple of nights.  Problem SOLVED.

Though slipping on gravel in the middle of the night, in the sticks, might be an issue, bicyclists usually leave the scene on their own, with bruised egos.

Within the context of vehicular incidents, the term "ejection" suggests a high-speed moving body violently leaving another high-speed moving body, after sudden deceleration or impact.

Wasn't this a one-vehicle incident?  At least get your story STRAIGHT.  Give it another shot at creative writing.  This time, use a LESS auto-centric paradigm.  Bicycles do NOT catch on fire after collisions with tree.

I'd say your better off drinking. Leave driving to the rich folks who can afford it. Driving will soon be a rich-folk only thing. I don't drink so I guess I'll have to stick to driving. Ouch![xx(]

With the new BOK Arena opening, which seats 18,000, there is growing concern over parking in Downtown Tulsa. Arena events could mean thousands of additional vehicles searching for spaces.

But Jim Norton of Downtown Tulsa Unlimited says any shortage of parking downtown is just a nasty rumor.  "With $6 gas, only rich white guys like me will be able to afford cars to park.  But, bicycle parking should be plentiful.  Let 'em bike!" Norton quips.

PonderInc

Approximately 50% of the area within the IDL is surface parking.  There is no concern for lack of parking.  There is concern for lack of buildings and loss of history and architecture!

you obviously didn't get the sarcasm.  We all know the bicycle isn't going to catch fire, and be ejected 30 feet.  wow, you are dense.  Loosen up a bit.

Anything can happen. If a bike crashs into something flameable it can go up in a ball of flames.[;)]

Now I am seeing 90% gasoline with 10% ethanol advertised all over town for $3.79.

If this keeps up, gasoline will be more expensive than beer. What do I do...drink or drive?

I'm more concerned with your tastes in beer.

It is not for me. My in-laws are planning to come visit during the summer. I am just trying to be a good host. I am also trying to find Cheetos by the case and SpagettiO's by the barrel.

I have to agree with Wilbur.  I wouldn't even serve those beers to people I didn't like.

I am just trying to "afford" their visit.

My ice chest right now has Boddington, Corona, Michelob Select, Michelob Ultra, Flying Dog, Leinenkugal, and Red Stripe.

I hide them in the corner of the garage.

For the wife's family visit, I have to be more frugal. When her sister is on vacation, she can drink more beer than a water buffalo.
