Why is there a shooting almost every night in north Tulsa? Why not alternate and maybe bust a cap in south Tulsa every once in a while? Or maybe west Tulsa?

Just wondering.

I work in North Tulsa.  Tens of thousands of people do.  American Airlines, the airport, and many industrial areas employ people and are currently hiring as fast as they can.  OSU Tulsa and TCC both have classes there.  Likewise, North Tulsa is closer to the office jobs downtown than most of the city.  That's not the issue.

As soon as an area has a majority residents that do not care about their community, its doomed.  For whatever reason, most of North Tulsa seems to be in this situation and has fallen into disrepair.  Poor does not have to equal crime ridden squaller - but in parts of North Tulsa it certainly does.

No idea how to fix it, just sayin' its there and its not because of lack of jobs.

I like cannon_fodder's answer.

I had to shake my head when I heard a guy from the north side on the news the other night. They were talking about the Albertsons at Pine & Peoria closing. He said something along the lines of 'dis place done brought jobs ova here and errything. now they gon up n close it down. people gon lose dey job and crime is gon go on up now.' His response would lead you to believe that Albertsons is apparently the only place to work for north tulsans and it'd be impossible to find another employment opportunity after they close. That'd be a shame if a grocery store closing could cause more crime for a part of town. Ridiculous even. I don't think you can fault the government on that - it's the mindset of the people like cannon_fodder said.

BTW, I think it is a bad deal that Albertsons is closing that store. It's a nice place and I can't think of another good grocery store within a reasonable distance for those in that area.

Last time I checked, shop lifting and jacking purses was a crime.  Maybe the crime rate will actually go down.

I bet the mayor's crew is trying to shop this to IGA or Warehouse Mkt.

Frankly, would rather work in North Tulsa than East Tulsa any day. Don't even try to drive or park around the WalMart at Admiral and Memorial if you're a timid sort. Most of the Northside stuff is happening in the wee hours. East side is 24/7!!
