What is going on at the fair this year?

I don't remember this many accidents on rides before.

Today there was a story about two different eleven year old girls being molested.

We are planning to go tomorrow after school, but I have to admit we are a little worried.

Call the County Mounties and complain...

Either that or email R Miller and tell her we changed our minds about waiting until '09'...

My guess... Possibly a few of the GOB are experiencing an End of Days Syndrome..

Running things on the cheap.. Putting back until they have their fingers in another pot.

And... Before you say I sound like Friendly Bear..

Consider this. Possibly the "Background Check" for felons has been waived and the molestations occurred as this group of possible 'thugs' move through.

It would be most interesting to get MH2010's take on this or Wilbur for that matter...

Anyhow here's hoping you and yours have Great Time...![;)]

Just another day on the Murphy Midway. KOTV is reporting revenues are down across the board at the fair this year.

Good.

Oil Capital

Yeah, sure is a good thing Randi got rid of that dangerous poorly-maintained Bell's Amusement Park...  and some people are willing to trust this woman with another $285 Million of tax money to more or less do with as she decides...  Sheesh.

So what would they have to do in order to redeem themselves SQ?  Or is this angst in perpetuity?

I like the fair.  The exhibits, animals, Made in Oklahoma, science "just for kids" area (with my boy), and of course the people watching.  I never actually went on a Bells ride at the fair anyway.

Bells was a poorly run business.  So is Tulsa county. [:(!]

Could not agree with SG or OC more....As far as Bells being a poorly run buisness thats a load of horse hockey....

I hear there's been alot of gang activity at the fair this year. They had a bad ride accident at the Texas State Fair in the early 1980's. I was living in Texas at the time. As I recall some car flew off the ride and killed 6 people or something like that. It was one of those rides where the cars swing around in circles. The name of the ride escapes me, I think it was called "The Enterprise" Ride but I'm not sure. It was pretty bad. it was on the news for along time.

OK, I looked it up on google about that Texas State Fair accident. It happened on October 17, 1983 and 1 person was killed (not 6 like I thought) and 3 people were badly hurt and hospitalized. It was on the Enterprise Ride one of the most popular rides at the fair. Google to the rescue![B)]

From the Texas Forum, and friends I know who live in Tulsa, they talked about all the gangs at the fair. Gwen Freeman who does morning talk radio on 1170 KFAQ radio also mentioned gangs at the fair. I hear her radio show live streaming on the the web. Gwen Freeman Rocks![:)]

...lots of stink, fried fat and scary-looking hillbillies and carnies.  It's noisy, too.  :)  The best parts are away from the midway - animal barns, cattle judging, steam exhibition, etc.

I only go to get an italian sausage sandwich and see 1:1 scale cakes in the likeness of Yoda.  Oh yes, the rodeo tonight, too.

And yet, this is supposed to be one of the most packed-out fair's ever. More people may be coming than ever, but at least they are finally seeing the light about the Murphy attractions.

Now who was it again that was calling Bell's 'dangerous'? Yeah, Bell's rides didn't get new paint every year, but one major accident in 50+ years of service is pretty darn good.
