Oktoberfest

I'm planning on attending my first Oktoberfest on Friday and I have a few questions that maybe some seasoned Oktoberfest vets can answer.

How hard is it to get a seat in the bierstube or
Das Ess Zelt Und Garten on Friday evening (say 7 p.m.)?

I don't plan on drinking Bud Lite, and it looks like the above two areas are the only two to offer German beer.

To me, drinking Bud Lite (or any American beer) at Oktoberfest is akin to going to a nice Mexican or Asian restaurant and ordering a hot dog.

Shouldn't be too bad. Even if you can't get a seat, you can drink on foot.

Be sure to have a great time this year, because if all goes according to plan, Oktoberfest will be underwater in the near future.

I'm driving in from Norman to attend Oktoberfest Friday night as well.  I have some friends from out of state coming with me and will be showing them around Tulsa.  Hopefully the weather is nice, and it stays nice and cool.  I love the west bank festival park because it has one of the best skyline views in town.

I went tonight. It is great as usual.

There is one tent that sells tastier and stronger beers.

I loved the Samual Adams Oktoberfest.

the tent you speak of is der bierstube... real german beer (and some decent wine)...

went twice this year...
really, really good time...
great food...
a lot of really, really drunk people...
but it always impresses me how the vibe of the crowd seems very harmless and good-natured... as opposed to the fair on a friday night at 10...

i'm betting the attendance was up significantly over previous years...

We went last night.  About froze, but still it was fun.  At least near the kiddie area, the attendence was way, way down, probably due to the freezing weather.  It was nice though--my youngest got the entire merry-go-round to himself.

The Spaten Oktoberfest was better. Had 3 pitchers of it, 1 of the Sam Adams. Of course I prefer a stronger beer.

I have a few different sets of horns. I will loan you a pair to wear next year.

The gentlemen with me was my attorney. I have learned that whenever you wear a funny hat and buy beer by the pitcher, it is a good idea to have an attorney nearby.

We all should dress up for Oktoberfest. Some parties just need hats.

We wound up going Friday night but didn't get to see everything.  An old high school friend recruited my wife and I to exchange script for cash, so our experience was pretty much limited to being contained in a fireworks stand and drinking beer at the volunteer hospitality tent.

I do have to say though, that's the cheapest I've ever gotten out of there for, and there are no lines at the hospitality tent port-a-potties.

That made for three weekends in a row of interesting people watching each with somewhat distinct differences- the first being the fair, last weekend my wife volunteered us for the "Evening Of Wine & Roses" at the Garden Center, then Oktoberfest.
