I updated the schedule up top.

Conan71

The gymnastics tour and dance tour I don't think will do real well.

Shawn and Nastia (wow, what a first name...) did good at the olympics, but I don't think they will be as big a draw as "The Magnificent Seven" were when they toured after Atlanta.

"So You Think You Can Dance?"

Another over-hyped and copied reality game show, yawn.

My interpretive dance team is still working to find an open date. We added a bagpipe number and have spent the summer experimenting with a gold medalist pantomine artist.

Look for a Christmas themed show sometime in January.

I'm thinking of renting the BOK Arena for my many TulsaNow fans and admirers to come view Friendly Bear.

Billing it as:  A Night in the Bear Pit.

They can then throw baseballs (3 baseballs for only $250.00) while I run around onstage with a hand mike, egging on the crowd.

Tickets will start at only $267 each for the cheap seats.  Bottled Oxygen is extra.

Expecting a sell-out house?

GREAT link!  Thanks!!

Let's savor those Arena estimated operating costs again, shall we?

Cannon Fodder helpfully provided a city energy study.  It estimated that:

Annual cooling of the new Arena will run: $925,000.

and,

Annual heating of the new Arena will run: $410,000.

These are NEW costs in the city operating budget.

Estimated BEFORE the latest round of electricity and natural gas price hikes.

BEFORE SMG's fee.

Before cleaning, maintenance, and security.

Uh, and those are ONLY Trigen contract costs.

The electricity from AEP, to light up that Iconic facade, that big, big scoreboard and that cold, cold ice rink, are extra.

No estimate, YET.......?

AFTER the Grand Opening perhaps?

You can bet that Mayor Taylor will demand that EVERY light be left burning 24 x 7 so that astronauts can locate our Iconic Arena from space with the naked eye.

And, keep AEP VERRRRRRRRY, VERRRRRRY happy....purring like Mayor Kitty's kitty.

Meow.

Keeps me happy too. I'd rather it be lit up  and visible, than be dark and unseen. After all, the voters should get to see what they voted for, right?

Of course, some are still stuck almost half-a-decade back in time.

Those thoughts exactly wash over me whenever I drive by.

Well, actually I think about my tax dollars - AT WASTE.

And, the fleeting thought that in just 8 1/2 more years, the temporary Vision 2025 Sales Tax will finally have the Arena paid for:

January 1, 2017.

Red Letter Day.

Expect by then a new Sales Tax initiative to "re-model" the "outdated" BOK Arena.

OKC is spending $100 million to remodel a five year old $90 million arena.

For the Basketball team.

sgrizzle

I've heard Trigen is providing the majority of the energy needs. AEP's bill is substantially lower.

OKC is spending $100M to upgrade facilities that were lacking when it was built. Tulsa put them in the first time. They are spending a big chunk of money on... get this.. a big glass wall over the entrance.

You had your chance to make you opinions known. You failed in the democratic process, and so now you have two choices. Move out of the county or deal with it. Your whining serves no purpose any longer, as the vote has already been presented, passed, and built. You are a few years too late...

Probably should be less, with the heat and cooling coming from the central Trigen heating/cooling plant downtown.

Any estimates of what AEP's annualized electric bill will run for the BOK Arena?

Well, if the $90 million spent on the Ford Center really made it only a dump, former Beatle Paul McCartney still thought it a worthwhile venue, right?

Democratic Process?

Interesting concept.  I don't think it functions very well in a Banana Republic.

Since there are no campaign donation LIMITS on non-partisan elections, like sales tax and bond tax elections, the Vote YES Tax Vampires can spend any amount of money to push through a new or renewed tax.

NO LIMIT.

NONE.

Rather an unequal contest, when the Vote Yes organization can raise and spend over $1,000,000 to sell Vision 2025, wouldn't you say?

Contributions coincidentally came from the very entities that benefit from the increased tax spending, like Manhattan, Flint, BOK, F&M Bank, (Lortons), AEP and ONG.

Remember?

The Vote No organization raised and spent a mere pittance by comparison.

Ain't democracy just great in the Banana Republic of Tulsa?
