I know that once it opens we will eat there everyday thanks to his 50% off forum member discount (that he didn't know he was offering until he read this) But until then, we haven't done a forum lunch in awhile.

May 5th at El Guapos would seem like a good idea. Any other suggestions?

That's next Monday (right?)... Hope I can make it!

I will be there...we will need people to RSVP on this thread if possible so we can get the right size table.

Here is their website.

I am ordering the chile verde burrito.

Everyone knows Cinco de Mayo is about the titanic and it's huge mayonnaise shipment.

I figure lunch wouldn't be that bad.

I heard that they are closing off the street and setting up a tent outside. It could be crazy.
Just so you know...

I'm always down for El Guapo's though.

Any thoughts on if 1804 will impact the size of this event?

From what I've seen of Cince De Mayo events at local tex-mex restaurants, it should have no effect. 1804 has no effect on drunk fat white males.

Cinco de Mayo is an American holiday.  In Mexico, they celebrate their independence in September.  From Wiki -
quote:
Celebrates the victory against French forces in the city of Puebla, on May 5, 1862. Also widely celebrated in the United States. US "celebration" of this Mexican historical event is largely a result of promotions in the US by liquor, beer, and bars/taverns/clubs/restaurants since the 1980s. For many years Cinco de Mayo celebrations in the US promoted Cinco de Mayo as Mexican Independence Day which is actually September 16. Although Mexican citizens feel very proud of the meaning of Cinco de Mayo it is not a national holiday in Mexico, but it is an official holiday in the State of Puebla where the mentioned battle took place.
