This post is for people to connect, create and get advice on setting up bikepools in their neighborhoods.

Bikepooling is like carpooling. Portland cyclist Elly Blue started one up in her neighborhood.  Well, this is Tulsa's version of what's already working out pretty well in Portland.

So here it is. But first, here are a few things to consider when posting your bikepool (suggested by Elly Blue):

A) Your bikepool announcement should include the following information:
--Starting point
--Starting time (specify a meeting time and/or departure time)
--General route (eg, over a particular bridge)
--Other important data, eg fast or slow, beginners welcome, etc.

B) Don't ask if anyone's interested in a certain route/time -- just invite people. You have to go to work anyway, so if it's a weird route and nobody shows up for the first week or two, well, what do you have to lose?

C) Be visible.  Be predictable.  And, more importantly, BE the change YOU want Tulsa to be.

Only YOU can Make Tulsa Bike-Friendlier.  Don't forget to post your bike pool pix here.  Tsunami of cycling consciousness in Tulsa?  BRING it!

Excellent video on how bicyclists mix it up with traffic, without really dying.

Tulsa's First Bikepool post:

Tulsa -- Muskogee
11 April, 1400

Departure: Whiteside Park, 4009 S Pittsburgh
Destination: Muskogee Azalea Festival Parade, 0900, 12 April.  6th/Market.
Return: 12 April, 1500
Route: 41st eastbound, BA, 81st exit, 51, Coweta, 51B, Porter, and 69 into Muskogee.

The Friday forecast shows a slight northerly, tailwind.  Schweet!  Inbound back to Tulsa should be a very brisk pace with tailwind.

Bicyclists invited to parade with Group #47, Green Bicyclists, in the line-up.  Wear some green, get it?  Bring some cash for BBQ after parade.

Kudos to you. This is a good thing. Although I don't live in Tulsa, I applaud you for this effort.
