QT, in my opinion is a great store.  Why do they have so many repeat customer's?  If they did not sell gas do you think that they would be, for the most part, as successful?

TheTed

I go there all the time and I usually don't buy gas.

What most other establishments fail at that QuikTrip has mastered is the ability to get you in and out extremely quickly. They seem to focus on efficiency.

When nobody's there the checkers are moving quickly and when they're swamped the checkers are moving so fast they're a sight to behold.

That and a great selection of fountain soft drinks, frozen drinks, really good sandwiches and pastries keep me coming back multiple times a week.

I do all my Christmas shopping at Quik-Trip. My friends all drink beer, my mother-in-law likes lottery tickets, some magazines and an ice scraper for the wife and playing cards, skittles and high-lighters for the kids.
Power is nothing till you use it.

QuikTrips do a better job than just about anyplace I can think of, outside of home, of keeping their bathrooms clean.

That's one way of getting loyalty from a lot of female customers.

Wingnut

Good customer service. I always get a "thanks for coming in" type of thanks and sometimes a greeting coming in. I've gone into some other now out-of-business stores and they wouldn't say a single word to me from the time I went in to the time I left. Why should I go there when they don't even acknowledge me as a customer?
I asked a friend if mine in hr at QT about it and he said that they hire the right people to start with.
I'm big on customer service. If a store doesn't appreciate me enought to thank me for giving them money, they don't need me.

golly gee you should take that act on the road yuk yuk.

Quik Trip is a dispicable company that practices inbred employment practices and sells inferior E10 gas at the same price others sell regular gas.  I think they must brain wash all of you supporters with their nasty warmed over food and coffee.

Ibanez

I don't buy gas at QT, due to it being E10, but do stop in there all the time for coffee, snacks, Diet Mt. Dew, etc.... The stores are always clean and even when they are jam packed with people they are very fast at getting people out the door.

If it weren't for the E10 I would never have a need to stop at a different station/convenience store.

I have driven this country from sea to shining sea and I have never seen another chain of stores that were kept as clean, well stocked and staffed by professional acting employees. The only one close is a small chain, less than 10 stores, in upper Michigan.

Inbred employment practices = promotes from the bottom up.  Some 85% of their management and other higher level positions are from the bottom up.  They pay better than any other gas station. T hey have better benefits.  I interviewed for an in-house position and was essentially told I was out of luck because I never worked a QT counter. They are a perennial favorite on the "best places to work" lists.

What the hell are you talking about?

Almost everywhere sells E10 gas.  In fact, the midstream distribution center in Tulsa is getting outfit to mix ethanol, so you had better get used to the notion because it will only become more common as our dumbass government continues to subsidize corn ethanol.

QT does well because they are clean, well lit, offer products people want, and have excellent fast service.

I crush grooves.

QT is always clean and well staffed. I know I can get the same service at 2am and 2pm. When employees enjoy their job, then customers will enjoy the experience as well and QT employees are treated about 150x better than any other convenience store.

I really like QT, but one of my friends loved it so much he married the cashier.

NellieBly

I know lots of QT employees who never worked at the counter. They have professional positions at the corporate level. They seem to like it but things have changed a lot under the new leadership.

no, there are still places that don't sell E10.  I recall someone mentioning that a auto body shop has a big sign in the garage that says "Only buy gas from these stores" and lists them.  Pretty sure Kum and Go is on that list....possibly Phillips.

Their relentless desire to hire people from their stores will be their downfall.  When you go so long without injecting new blood into the ranks you end up with a group think mentality that lacks the inability to accept change.  In fact, their pursuit of hiring from within has created an almost cult-like atmosphere among their employee base.

And their Wonderlic tests for new hires?  What a joke, this isn't the NFL.

K&G was going to start selling E10 this year...they may have started already. Shell is the only place I know for sure doesn't -- I-44 & 33rd W Ave for one. May not last though.

Phillips also charges 5-10c more a gallon.

Some Phillips stations do, some don't.

The one close to my house is normall .01 cheaper than the nearby QT.

Phillips does not sell E10, the only other gasoline I know of around here that does not contain E10 is Sinclair.

inteller

in order for people to realize the value out of QTs watered down piss it needs to be sold at 10% less than REAL gas everyone else is selling.  If Phillips is selling 5-10c higher then that is the price for REAL gas and QT is appropriately charging what they should be.  However in most cases I see QT selling for the same as others sell for REAL gas.
