I love the fair, if for no other reason than the sociological experience it offers. You see people there you never see any other time of the year. There must be a special bus that picks up all these colorful characters and deposits them at the Expo Square entrance daily.

I never miss it.

Does anyone know how many ride tickets most of the rides take? Thanks!

Most of the adult rides are around 5 to 6 tickets.  Kid rides are around 4.  Sadly, most tickets cost .75 to $1, depending on how many you buy.

It is an amazing art show that is being covered as a special again by the Food Network.

One of my favorite fair memories is the day that the kids sell their pigs. There is this amazing scene of a pen full of kids and pigs with a truck and a big ramp to load the animals.

Half of the kids are crying because they are losing their pets and the other half have more money in their hands than they have ever had and the midway is just steps away.

I think food network has two competitions this year. That's what my handy state fair guide said..
