I guess it isnt that scary without a story line?

Judging by the URL these are pictures you took.  If so, wow.  Where?  When?  and wow.

i saw a baby water moccasin at the water's edge next to a black widow and went to get my camera, about 20 seconds later I decided I should let that picture stay in my head.  [;)]

In the world of the rattler it is mating time.

Doesn't some Oklahoma towns have a number of Rattlesnake-related festivals?

I was walking along a causeway through a swamp when the water snakes were singing their version of "I'm in the mood for love."  Hundreds of snakes covered anything above water, and they were piled up along the bank like driftwood.  I don't get the willies from being around snakes, usually, but that day was creepy - like something from a horror movie.  I have some photos but they're on Kodachrome.

May you live in interesting times.

The above pictures were taken by the man who owns the ranch next to 100 acres my parents own just North of Henryetta. We've never seen any rattlesnakes that large, but we call our place Copperhead Estates due to the number of them we see out there.

I need to try that tonight with the wife.

They're good photos.  He must have been close to the snakes.  Thanks for posting them!

I did not think there are many rattlers in Oklahoma. Are they mostly in west OK?

There are lots of rattlers in the Ouachita Mountains of southeast Oklahoma.  I grew up on the Arkansas side in the Ouachitas and there are lots of rattlers, especially in rocky areas.  At least rattlesnakes let you know where they are.  Copperheads and cottonmouths strike first and ask questions later.

I'm new to this area.  What kind of poisonous snakes are common in this area?  I'm guessing copperheads and cottonmouths.  Any rattlesnakes?

Dude!  Are you serious!  Found one in the garden bed of my mailbox last summer and I'm one of those south-Tulsa folks.
