Incumbents typically prefer fewer debates and challengers prefer more.  Incumbents are usually a known quantity with a record to run on (or against).  Incumbents have little to gain and much to lose.  Challengers want the opportunity to confront and attack the incumbent and share a stage, which tends to elevate his/her stature.  As a voter, I prefer more candidate debates and forums, but I see why Bartlett does not.

This debate says that all the candidates are invited. All the candidates including Paul Tay.

I don't blame Bartlett for having hesitation on this one.
