Trash Cans left out 24/7

These are going to seem like petty complaintsh..my neverending quest to understand some people's thought processes.....

I have a neighbor who leaves his trash cans out at the curb 24  hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 days a year.  When it's trash day, he brings his bags out and fills them up.  I can accept that the guy is a lazy slob - I'm used to looking at his yard, but I want to know if there is a specific ordinance against leaving the cans out at the curb like this?  One of my other neighbors has called about it and we've gotten no action.  I searched the cityoftulsa website and found no specific rules against it...

I have another neighbor who doesn't mow the grass between the sidewalk and curb.  He mows the rest of his yard, he even does a nice job of it mind you.  Just not that little strip....but he finally mowed it this week....so i won't complain about him again for a while.

Maybe one of these days I'll understand..

Anyway, the trash cans are my main question.  Anyone know if this is legal?

I've left mine out for awhile because I have inept service. Sometimes they pick up at 5am, sometimes 5pm and sometimes they just randomly don't. I call the city when I don't and they tell me to leave them on the curb until the trashmen come and get it.

I have plenty of this type in my neighborhood too.  If you are like me tulsa1603, you will never understand people like this.  I gave up trying to understand them years ago.  There must be a "slob gene" and some have it, some don't!

LOL! I have neighbors that do that occasionally too. It drives me crazy. One neighbor pruned his trees and left a big pile out in his front yard for the city to pick up, but the trash collectors won't collect it until he cuts it up. So, for months now there's this big pile of limbs that has grass growing all around it. I would speak to the guy but he has literally been out of town for two months and his son is "taking care" of the place.

I don't think that cite gets you where you need to be.  It is not phrased in the imperative--rather, it something one "should" do.

Well the 'white trash' I have next to me lives in a $475K house and puts his trash sans garbage can right on the curb.  I always think, "Custom-built POS Tuscan: $475K; heated pool: $30K; cherry 79 'Vette: $40K; living life as white trash in drag: priceless!"

Low standards, poor taste, and lack of pride of ownership affect all social/economic classes, not just lower income folks.  You don't have to live in a high dollar neighborhood to take pride in your property and its appearance.  If I had close proximity neighbors that never took in their garbage cans, I would do it for them and put them by their front door.  If they would question me, I would explain the city ordinance about such, and that they are in violation of the law.  After a few times, maybe they would get the hint, maybe not.  But the street would look a lot better.

Having lived in my home for over 20 years now, I am rather hardened to these types of issues, and I am not afraid of confrontations with neighboring properties when it comes to code enforcement.  We all must live by the same rules, I abide by them and expect my neighbors to do likewise.  Tulsa1603, your concerns are not too picky and you seem to be a decent Tulsa citizen with valid concerns.  I sympathize with you completely.

Well, I'm just nitpicky about home maintenance and this couple bugs me.  

The trash cans are gone as of this morning!
