Tulsa is #1 in the nation in dog ownership:

Rank #18 in the nation for happiest dogs, for what it's worth.  My dogs are happy... except my lab, who I bought a backpack/saddle bags for yesterday.  Time to earn your keep mutt.

No dog park. A terrible record of euthanisia of unwanted pets, especially dogs.

I don't see why we are 18th.

Seeing the other cities that are below us makes me rather pleased that we aren't Detriot. So who and what determines our rank anyway?

I thought we had a dog park behind the garden center?

It says OKC is #1 in ownership too.

The website says Tulsa has 39 dog parks.

cannon_fodder

Lister:  We are ranked 39th for dog parks, that would be tied for last with too many other cities.

Artist:  The area behind the garden center is not supposed to be a dog park.  But when a handful of people in a rich neighborhood decided to use it as such who is going to say anything?  There are no real dog parks in Tulsa.

inteller:  The criteria for the ratings are clearly defined on the web page and explained.

Shadow:  I find you raging hatred of me that is now following from thread to thread and showing up in my PM box to be amusing.  I assume this is your new alias and that you already wore out your old one.  Keep up the good work, its productive.

How does Tulsa rank on beer consumption?

Way behind any Catholic or Episcopal town, I can tell you that much. For instance:

Tulsa- 59
Cincinnati (a Catholic/German town)- 3rd
Pittsburgh (simply depressing)- 2nd

BTW, that is totally made up.

Here's a real site that might answer that question:

Here is another ranking on the most and least stressful cities:

Double A

I suggested Tulsa needed dog parks at the comp plan update meeting I attended. Let's hope the powers that be listen. I think the planners who organize Mayfest should read that report and rethink their position on banning dogs. I've boycotted Mayfest ever since they made that change.

Wow, I didnt realize dogs were banned at Mayfest.  I guess I did not see any there, but I was dang close to bringing mine with me.  I guess I have some understanding, as the glass blowers and potters would probably be a bit nervous with Rex the untrained monster clodding around.

That said, I say we build a dog park at the fair grounds.  The patch of green space near the locomotive could serve well or part of the "old Bells" site.  For that matter, Midtown has enough green spaces that an acre could be set aside for dog owners - if not midtown then SOMEWHERE. If they have space for dog parks in New York City... Heck, apparently we have a very high dog ownership rate.

It would certainly be a project I would be interesting in helping with.
