Well of course the bird won by a landslide, the others were all too similar. Kinda like if you have four Democrats running against one Republican without having a primary, the Republican is obviously going to have an advantage.

Your theory doesn't work here because the four other quarters got less than half the votes combined.

The bird quarter was the overwhelming choice.

Here is my problem... when someone in Minnesota, California, or anywhere BUT Oklahoma looks at that quarter they are not going to think "Oklahoma."  For that matter, many people in Oklahoma probably cannot name our state bird.  Its boring and says little about the state... no way I would find the Oklahoma quarter and think it was neat.

Between the similarity of the other choices and the "scandal" of no bible (which caused many religous groups to encourage their members to vote for the damn bird), it was guaranteed a winner from day 1.

LAME.

I don't feel too bad since many of the state quarters seem lame. How is it we have two different quarters that both say "birthplace of aviation?"

Many states have little more than a state outline.

The Wright brothers were born in Ohio but flew their plane in North Carolina.  Thus, both claim aviation was 'born' there... one biologically and one technically.

I understand the history, it's the fact the same thing verbatim is on two coins. Technically one is the home of the first aviators and the other is the site of the first aviation. The wright brothers' heads are the birthplace of aviation. (If you believe they were the first)

I no longer consider Oklahoma my home, having been gone for years. That being said, it should be something intrinsic to Oklahoma, like Rodeo, or the Meth-Head.

Chris

I always thought it would show something land-run related, I was so wrong. It sucks, but most of the state quarters do. It could of been alot worse.

Then North Carolina is the birthplace of aviation.
