Oh, it's the station just trying to stir up some of that "War on Christmas" horsesh*t, a controversy that jumped the shark years ago.

Nevermind that a portion of the public might *need* some prescription drugs on the holiday.

If a business wants to be open Christmas Day that is up to them. What's next gas stations, the local QT store, truck stops. BTW I heard Flying J Truck stops went belly up. There is a big Flying J in Tulsa at 129th and Admerial and they were having a hard time getting fuel.

Flying J filed Capter 11 to reorg.

My bible (the first part of it) tells me that people should not drive, cook, help others, or in other ways work on the high holy days.  The second part of my book talks a lot about Jesus.  While his birthday was not celebrated as a high holy day while he was alive, or even mentioned aside from his really real birth day, later generations decided to make it a high holy day.

Ergo, no one should work on Christmas, it's in the Bible (kinda).

I want to see the section of the bible that says you shouldn't "drive". I would be impressed of the prediction of the automobile.

My wife tried that "can't cook on a holy day", but all she ever does is microwave stuff anyway.

If I can't drive on a holy day, how do I get to church?

I'll assume you are being in jest... but the reasoning is:

God told us to remember the Sabbath.  On the 7th day he rested.  Our work is not as important as his, so clearly we should not work either.  In addition, Jews were slaves in Egypt who worked 7 days a week - not working on the 7th day is supposed to be a reminder that they are free.

To be precise, "work" is not forbidden by the bible but "melachah" is.  A word best translated as "work" but having a specific connotation.  It has since been extrapolated by various holy men. Specifically, Jews observing Shabbat must not engage in:

  1. Sowing
  2. Plowing (there's a joke here)
  3. Reaping
  4. Binding sheaves
  5. Threshing
  6. Winnowing
  7. Selecting
  8. Grinding
  9. Sifting
 10. Kneading
 11. Baking
 12. Shearing wool
 13. Washing wool
 14. Beating wool
 15. Dyeing wool
 16. Spinning
 17. Weaving
 18. Making two loops
 19. Weaving two threads
 20. Separating two threads
 21. Tying
 22. Untying
 23. Sewing two stitches
 24. Tearing
 25. Trapping
 26. Slaughtering
 27. Flaying
 28. Salting meat
 29. Curing hide
 30. Scraping hide
 31. Cutting hide up
 32. Writing two letters
 33. Erasing two letters
 34. Building
 35. Tearing a building down
 36. Extinguishing a fire
 37. Kindling a fire
 38. Hitting with a hammer
 39. Taking an object from the private domain to the public, or transporting an object in the public domain.

#39 pertaining to driving whilst not predicting the automobile (or did it...).  [;)]

The fun being most of that isn't actually IN the bible, it was kinda-sorta added later.  Like Christmas.  Hence, Walgreens should be closed.

Quod erat demonstrandum.

Man, am I in trouble. I did most of those things on Sunday.

Especially sowing. I have sowed enough wild oats to qualify for a farm loan.

So maybe Walgreens should be closed on Saturdays.  Christmas should be a non-issue.

But Red Arrow, God changed his mind on most of that stuff in the New Testament.  So as a Christian nation we don't have to follow the laws in the Old Testament that we don't want to.  But Jesus was born (it's in the new part) and we have to celebrate his birth (it was added later).

Close Walgreen for Christmas, or the terrorists have won.

Is this "watching that chef guy" on TV?

What is it with religion and food? Some want me to eat fish on one day, never pork for others, and I don't think I could worship with the sacred cow folk for long. Ramadan means no food until sunset...but I thought breakfast was the most important meal of the day.

Salt meat? That seems extra picky. Pepper OK?

My mind is filled with faith, but it is in the body of an athiest.

Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.  Funny how all those who want to use the Big Ten pare it down for convenience's sake to ignore the Sabbat. Personally I avoid shopping on Sunday, murdering too often, lying frequently, coveting on a regular basis . . . y'know, all things in moderation.
