OK Teens Branded Sex Offenders

Your son or daughter could be having sex and consenting to it with another teen.

Ok, time to come clean. It is clear you are a single issue poster, which is fine, but what is your stake in this?

Human Rights, Constitutional issues and just plain common sense.

...but do we need two concurrent threads about the same subject?
Maybe one of our cleaver moderators can combine them  [:)]

Thank you to all those responding to my son's story and caring. His life has been devastated and yet many do not realize Ricky was in a Iowa teen club for 16-20 year olds the night he met this young lady. The club was never held responsible as I was told, "the more girls, the more boys, the more money". So in turn my son was the only one held accountable for trusting this younglady cause at sixteen waht teen thinks, "well do you have ID?" I fight for Ricky daily now his record has been exspunged but I fight daily to make other parents aware of the laws which can destroy their own childs life. I never in a million years thought teens were in a registry I truly thought was for the most dangerous and violent and now I have educated myself I ahve realized many things about the registry but first and foremost its a mess and a lie and if they can put my son as a predator how many more are thre who are no thrat? How can we protect a child if we have two hundred faces on it and all are saying dangerous? We cannot cause bottom line it doesn't work and politicians are so scared to lose their political standing my son is simply another childs life being thrown awaycause its political suicide. I need folks to call Gus Blackwell, John Auffet, Lucky Lamons and demand we change these laws. There is a federal Romeo law in the Adam Walsh ACt yet Gus told me he was going to pass it now he isnot sure if it will. Please sign my pettion www.rickyslife.com and again educate yourself to the truth regarding these laws. I created a brochure please write me I will send you a free copy help me save a child from this nightmare...Thanks Mary   more stories www.derekoftexas.blogspot.com

Weve had lengthy debates on underage bars here in the forum, so it shouldnt be a surprise to anyone.

As for the registration laws, they were broken from the beginning, fueled by media hysterics and exploited by headline-grabbing politicians who arent likely to admit mistakes.

One of Tulsa's suburbs even went as far as to construct a playground to force registered offenders out of the only part of town they could legally reside in.  Gives you some idea as to how shallow political thinking is around here.

That reminds me....

Did you ever dig up some actual 10 year olds on the sex registry or were you just talking out your donkey again?

Those registries are not public but in the hands of police. Different states make them public at different times.when the youths reach a certain age.

Young lives destroyed
Note: Some of the following stories were submitted to this site by parents who felt a need to withhold their names and/or locations in order to prevent accusations that they were resisting their children's treatment. They feared that such accusations could result in permanent separation from their children, or other retaliation against them or their children.

Rounding up "dangerous" sex offenders? Maybe not...

Note: these absconders were convicted as small children who ended up on sex offender registry when they were old enough to publicize.
Note: the youngest was a 6 year old convicted of "sexual assault."

I guess the easiest answer here would be for them to move back to Iowa...   In Iowa, he can come off the sex offender registry in another 7 years.

As for Ricky and others in Oklahoma, I have no sympathy.

rickysmom

We cannot jut go back to Iowa as in the story I lot my vision five weeks before my son arrest and have to be near family...also I have a younger son who loves his home here its why we came home to protect both my sons...and Iowa is going to pass AWA a law which will take Rickys ten years and probably move him to life there too..you know take a plea and hell government changes it on you with aclick of the finger...why cause our constitution no longer has any value cause many Americans are not aware of the crap going on and rather keep their heads buried unaware there are children in these registries and then when they do see it for themselves they proclaim well they get what they deserve...its wonderful to be a American and see such vile hatred for our children in this country and not care about the young lives being destroyed...but you know what your opinion means little caue thousands of Oklahoman's are writing and care about Ricky..they know in their eharts this couldbe them or their child and that kindness gives my son and I hope to wake up daily and know somehow things will be ok..cause in the end American's we pull together thru dark times and this is one of those times ...so enjoy your day and take care

Folks I like to first apologize for all my typos moments ago to a poster. Second, whatever your opinion is bottom line is we mustducate ourselves and our youth. We have to work together to prevent this registry from exploding with teens. Even Patty Wetterling feels this is wrong and many experts. Google Mary Duval and find my interview with them on MPR radio. Valuable taxes, resources and polie officers times are being wasted by watching these non violent cases when real dangerous and violent predators are out there. The numbers are small but bottom line is this registry was not mant for children, teens or youths. These laws destroy families and each year new laws pass which violate human and civil rights and our federal and state constitutions. Wheter you agree or disagree we must work together to save our children and no dman registry is going to protect them when we cannot tell who is who or what is what...please help me and let Gus Blackwell, Lucky Lamons and John Auffet and other Oklahoma Reps/Senators this is wrong and you demand change...help me save Ricky please...petition www.rickyslife.com  more children stories: www.ethicaltreatment.org   blogs of stories: www.derekoftexas.blogspto.om   Thank you

Violate our human and civil rights?

I didn't know I had a human OR a civil right to have sex with children.

And I am very sure that sex with children is nowhere in either the Federal or state constitutions.

It is amazing that there are people out there who do not know the difference between true child sexual abuse, and teenage consensual sex.  It is obvious these people do not understand the differences of victims of "true" child sexual abuse, and the "named victim" in teenage consensual sex cases.

As a "true victim" (not by standards of the law) of sexual abuse as a child, I find it insulting.  A true victim doesn't invite the abuse, enjoy the abuse or brag about it to friends later.
"Named Victims" in Romeo/Juliet cases are quite the opposite.  In fact, many of these "named victims" will lie in order to reel in an older boy.  They know what they are doing.  Some of these "named victims" have been victimized more than once knowing there will be no consequences for their lies or their active role in the sexual encounter.  In fact, "named victims" will qualify for the same "victims compensation" that a "true victim" will qualify for.

There is a HUGE difference in a "named victim" and a "true victim and their is a HUGE diffence in child molestation and two teenagers having sex.   It is time our lawmakers fix this issue.  Common Sense should tell anyone that Ricky and boys like Ricky are not sexual predators or pedophiles and the "victims" of the two separate events are certainly not comparable.  Common Sense should tell anyone it is time to reform the laws and stop punishing these boys as if they are some kind of John Couey.

But most of all, your conscience should tell you it is wrong to be punishing these boys in this manner.
