I could not find the original thread we had for Mr Jerry Giordano, so I decided to make a new one.

Looks like he pleaded guilty yesterday.

http://www.oscn.net/applications/ocisweb/GetCaseInformation.asp?submitted=true&viewtype=caseGeneral&casemasterID=2114423&db=Tulsa

Plead guilty to two counts (Driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.)

Received 1yr suspended sentence for each, attend self help meetings, and produce a 10 minute video to be used by a crash court program.

Sounds to me like he got off pretty easy.  None the less, maybe he will think twice the next time he has a couple too many.

wow, too bad we can't all have access to equipment at work to produce our 10 minute "don't be like me" videos and get off light.

It could only be a legal issue why he is still employed at KTUL.

Why wouldnt he be? Is he not allowed to work anywhere now?

I think the problem comes from KTUL allowing others at the station in keeping their jobs after a DUI arrest.

TV is all about reputation and Gerry was really an embarrassment to the station that day, I think his days are numbered. jmo

This would not be considered a 'light' sentence compared to other first-time DUI offenders.  Actually, this would be considered rather heavy.

The Fire Department allows it's employee's to remain on the job...Why should the news station fire him for making a mistake....Some of you on here are little holier than thou don't you think.....

Most of us 'holier than thou' types wouldn't try to bribe the arresting officer, though.  If my memory serves me correctly, that was on the report, right?

Depends on how plowed the 'holier than thou' was, I suppose.

Wilbur is right, he didn't get any special consideration on his sentencing.  I hope he learned from his mistake and we won't be hearing any stories like William Bernhardt.

My brother was killed by a drunk driver, so I take a really dim view of DUI.  But, would any of you want to have others lobbying for you to be fired over a screw-up like this?

Lighten up a little or expect similar treatment if you ever have a major screw-up.  Karma's a biznitch.

I think the punishment of having your police report made public revealing that you dropped a duece in your pants when they slapped on the cuffs is punishment enough.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Throw in some pictures from the scene for total humiliation and I would be satisfied.  Being arrested for DUI is one thing, but then try to run from, and on top of that "*** yourself" and try to bribe the officers.  I laughed after the I read the police report online.  Either way, hopefully gets help and it doesn't happen again.  I guess we all should be thankful he didnt severely injure or kill anyone.

Still though, winning comment of all was Bruno Flipper after seeing Jerry's get-up:

This was picked up by FARK and DIGG:

When the drunk got made and drove his car into a group of people on Brookside they set Giordano to cover the story -

It's more than Mayor Taylors daughter received but she was caught before doing damage anywhere ( thats known anyway)

DolfanBob

Wow ! Not one mention about the driver being drunk by Giordano. Just that the police were investigating if it was alcohol related.
Pot calling the kettle black.
Then again this could be KTUL punishment, The see what could happen son when you...etc.etc.etc.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.
