Years ago, there was a really good VW mechanic in Tulsa.  He was from Germany and trained by VW.  My boss has a 2004 VW Jetta Diesel and needs a good VW mechanic.  She's not happy with the dealership mechanics right now.  Anyone know if a really good independent VW shop still exists?

Gene Pyeatt VW Repair if it's still there was behind Q Spot at 31st and Shreidan, Dyna Bug on 44th east of Mingo, and Der German Imports were the ones I used for years. Don't know how many are still in business.

Check the phonebook for a guy on Admiral between 244 & Sheridan road. He sits behind a rental center. Das German? or something German. He was very good with my friend's VW van.

Are the problems electrical or mechanical?

MsProudSooner

They seem to be electrical - or possibly computer related.  A couple of times, the moon roof opened on it's own.  It had an ignition problem recently.  The check engine light came on a couple of weeks ago and they said the code told them it was the hot light sensor.  Today, the hot light came on the minute she turned the car on and blinked.

Late model VW's seem to have lots of strange electrical/computer gremlins. They will suddenly stop running in traffic for no apparent reason and refuse to restart, often costing lots of $$ to diagnose and repair. Seems a little suspect to me that the dealers aren't totally aware of what their weaknesses are.

Check out one of the VW owners groups online. They usually have lots of good info to share that will keep you from being exploited by the dealers.

Mr. Peyatt (sp?) was always really good. My mom took here '77 lime green VW Rabbit to him until '94 when she got rid of it.

I third Migelli's. My mom's been taking her vw there for a few years.
