It makes me wonder if the alledged were white, would the NAACP care?  I would suspect not.  So they are turning the focus now that these individuals are now victims instead of juvinile delinquents.  IMO it should be NAHCP "National Association for the hindering of Colored People."  They turn everything into a color issue when it shouldn't be.

Reverse the roles...would the NCAAP still care if they were white or hispanic or indian? Would they still say "The Tulsa World didn't violate any juvenile protection laws, but they violated moral laws" ? I would have to say they probably would not.

I am not surprised as when KRMG reported that the suspect's parents are the ones who turned him in.  Guess no one from the NAACP lissens to KRMG.

I think the fact that their name says "Colored People" is a hindrance enough, without them even doing anything.

I thought the same thing after I posted this.

Maybe they should be more concerned about the group of "colored people" who brought firearms to school to sell, very possibly to other "colored people," than about how it was reported.

Maybe they should be more concerned about "colored people" having an amazingly high rate of prisoners and parolees, drug use, and unemployment.

Maybe the "colored people" that fail to graduate from school should be of concern.

Perhaps getting more "colored people" into college, trade jobs, and other avenues to earn a good living should be a priority.

Frankly, all I have seen the NAACP do in the last two decades in whine and complain about how unfairly black people are treated then come to the aid of some worthless news worthy cause.  YES, you are profiled as criminals - the best way to stop that is to NOT BE criminals.  At which point "driving while black" becomes an annoyance instead of landing you in prison for possession of pot, crack, or a firearm. I'm sure some cops frame black people on racial motivation, but that is certainly the exception and not the rule.
Even better, work on getting "colored people" above the fray and as a culture concerned about education, jobs, and well being instead of being "cool" or not "selling out."

Fire Jesse Jackson, Sharpton, and those other clowns.  Have Bill Cosby, Colin Powell, Barrack Obama, or a litany of other successful, intelligent, and educated black men be your leaders.  Hell, Spike Lee, Chris Rock, or Dave Shapel would do a better job... at least they tell it how it is.  The victim mentality by the current "black leadership" is not only ineffective, it is against your own interest.

A kid bringing a gun to school is an issue with a kid first, and any racial issues are ancillary.  A group of kids beating up a lone kid is a violence issue first, and racial issues second.  Most of the time the issue is NOT race.  It may play a role in some way, but the underlying issue (as in this case) is something else.  Don't bring a gun to school and there would be no issue.

NCAAP, I know you have fought the good fight and had much success.  And I know that many inside the organization still think they are fighting the good fight.  But take a step back.  Get your own house in order before you worry about  "the man" trying to keep you down.  I do not deny that racial issues remain, but 30 years after winning preferential treatment in many regards as a society black America has not taken advantage of it.

I, for one, have a dream of a day where my children will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.  So long as you think skin color first, we aren't there.

/standard disclaimer:  this is a generalization.  I know many black people are highly successful and do not think race first.  In this instance, clearly the NAACP did and that is what I am responding to.  I reference "black America" as a whole as being legally favored in many regards and statistically remains embattled with crime, drugs, poverty, and a lack of education to a greater extent that other groups.  The status quo from the NAACP leadership blames that on the man and refuses to take any sort of social responsibility.
