Wantland Stadium, University of Central Oklahoma

The stadium has permanent seating to accommodate 10,000.

OSSAA to discuss a vote on  three year contract to host 11-man football state championships at Wantland Stadium.  If the contract is approved, the likely dates for games this year would be December 4-5 for Classes 6A-I to 3A and Dec. 12 for Classes 2A and A.

Wantland Stadium, if approved is on the campus of the University of Oklahoma; it will become the site of the association's 11-man football championships for Classes 6A-I to A championships for the next three years.

OSSAA have expressed the need to have a centralized championship site, something the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association (OFCA) along with numerous others have pursued since 2017.

I remember the show.  Kinda liked it.  Quirky.

Shame they didn't have brains enough to film locally.

On a day we learned eight NCAA regionals and championships will come to our state from 2023-26 — in addition to the Women's College World Series, which OKC has locked in for the long term — there was jubilation in many locales. OSU landed three events in Stillwater. Ditto for OU in Norman. Tulsa even scored a big event, the wrestling championships in 2023.

But nothing was bigger than OKC getting that basketball regional.--Oklahoman, October 15, 2020

18,203 seats are available for NBA games inside Oklahoma City's Chesapeake Energy Arena.

A person with knowledge of the situation says the NBA's players are planning to vote on whether they would prefer to start the coming season in December or wait until January, with that decision expected before the league's board of governors meets to potentially formalize some plans on Friday.

Will Thunder fans be allowed in the downtown arena when the NBA returns December 22, 2020?

Tom Anderson, special projects manager in the office of Craig Freeman, Oklahoma City's city manager, said multiple plans for reopening Chesapeake Energy Arena for NBA basketball have been developed, taking into consideration a range of contingencies.  A final decision rests first on an assessment of the health risks to fans, players and staff, he replied.

"The city, the Thunder and [building manager] ASM Global are all committed to being able to host events, especially NBA games, as safely as possible,"

Dr. Dale Bratzler of OU Medicine said he had not seen the Thunder's plans, but that substantially limiting seating capacity and creating socially distanced "pods" for immediate family members likely would be among them.  Masks will have to be mandatory, because a crowd of people, even physically distanced, that are yelling and cheering without a mask can spread aerosols and droplets a long ways.
