Metal Desk Refinishing?

I have a 1950s vintage Steelcase steel desk that is in perfect "mechanical" condition but needs to be refinished, and have a new top installed.
I seem to recall there was some company in town that specialized in refinishing steel desks, but cant recall the name.

I don't have any advice for you, but those are freakin' awesome desks.

At the design firm where I used to work, we had all the old beige file cabinets stripped of paint and a grinder or something was used to make a swirly/circle/brushed metal finish. They were coated with clear polyurethane I think.

I bet Garden Deva/Lesa Regan would know how to protect something like that. Not everything they do is rusty.

I was afraid AA5 was going to say he'd just gotten his head torn off buying one at Mod to Modern for five times it's real value.

I wandered through there last weekend.  Sheesh, they've gotten proud of their stuff.

Have you tried any of the places that do powder coating?

LOL... My dad bought this desk from a sale his company was having in about 1968.
The desk is actually a Shaw Walker desk and came with a Shaw Walker wooden chair on casters.

My Mathis Brothers Sauder desk fell apart after a couple of years, and I decided to resurrect it. This had been in my parents garage since about 1980 but is kinda scarred up but no rust.

Forgive me if it's not there any more, but there was a place on Admiral near Plasma Alliance that did furniture restoration and repair. I can't remember the name of the place but when I worked at Saied Music for a while we would take pianos to them for wood working repair and they did excellent work.
