The very reason I moved away 30+ years ago. I miss it terribly but I make so much more money in Memphis. go figure

Ah, Memphis. You know, I stayed a couple of days there before returning to Oklahoma briefly for a few weeks in 2005, and from all I saw, I must say that it's a city with alot going for it!

I don't know what to say about that. After living here for 5 years I've grown to hate the place. Reasons? far to numerous to list here. It is a unique town with lots of positive points but it is crime ridden with one of the highest murder rates in the country. Car theft is very high, insurance rates are some of the highest in the country as a result. City property taxes paired with the county property tax (no state property tax) are outragous, ie. a 150,000 home in Memphis city proper commands a tax of about $4000.00. I live outside the city limits, my home is valued at about 150,000 and I pay nearly $2000.00 per year. I could go on and on. But Elvis lived here so....
By the way I was within 6 inches of seeing Elvis once.... The damned shovel handle broke!!![:D]

Well, I was leaving the Gulf Coast for a few weeks, and compared to what I was dealing with in Biloxi, in spite of what problems you've mentioned, I must say that Memphis and the rest of the Mississippi Delta region was heavenly.

I am leaving Miami in the morning, spending 2 days in gulf coast with a friend then on to oklahoma to make low wages. After all my travels it will be ok.But all is not lost folks,I have great news!!!After seeking more opinions,it was realized that I do NOT have lung cancer, what the mis diagnosis was, that in somalia,I recieved 2 gunshot wounds, one went thru my lung, other went thru my spleen. It was scar tissue that they mistook for cancer.
I had the scare of my life, and then the relief of my life all in a 2 month period!
Its like a load lifted I cannot explain,Im just happy is all I can say.I appreaciate all the prayers and uplifting comments as they have worked.Im so greatful!!!

Frankly, with no state income tax in TN, $2,000 property tax on 150k$ house is cheap.

Congrats!!!  I think you should sue the doctors for intentional infliction of emotional distress, that way you could move back without having to earn a dime!

He was like TV Vallium.  There's only one thing on TV that puts a man to sleep faster than PGA golf, and it's Bob...

Well, Jilda Unruh's lame attempt at a talk show on KTUL bored me to tears, that was like a quick acting sleeping pill.

Pun intended, it could have been as fun as watching paint dry.

I think Jilda eventually wound up in Miami, Fla. working for a station there.  Yes, the Jilda Unruh show was about as entertaining as Gwen & Chris on KFAQ.
