TULSA, Okla. The relationship between Oklahoma State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine and its teaching hospital in Tulsa is unstable and that's leaving some students both anxious and hopeful a solution can be reached.

Ardent Health Services of Nashville, Tennessee, owns Tulsa Regional Medical Center. The company said last year it would prefer to consolidate services that are duplicated at that hospital and at its other Tulsa hospital, Hillcrest Medical Center.

Ardent said the needs of the O-S-U teaching program have thus far kept the company from such a consolidation. O-S-U officials say such a move would significantly damage T-R-M-C's medical residency program.

Ardent has proposed selling T-R-M-C to the state for 165 (m) million dollars or leasing the facility.

Negotiations about the college's future and T-R-M-C are under way during the current state legislative session.

O-S-U medical students, the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association and the Tulsa Metro Chamber have been involved in lobbying legislators.
