i feel for all of these young men whose lives have been destroyed by the registry.anybody with any compassion should see that this is just not right.we all agree that our children should be protected.nobody should ever do harm to a child.but we all need to look at the world today and see that these young people are going to be having sex.there is a big difference in 2 young people having consensual sex.these young people are alot more sexually active than parents think.when parents find out their daughter is having sex,can just can't belive it.they think that the boys must have forced them.they want somebody to pay,so it must be the young men who are forced to pay.they need to stop and realize that it takes 2 to play.

I call shenanigans. One topic, particularly somewhat obscure one bringing in 5 new posters within a couple weeks?  Their posts then confined only to that topic.  That seems very odd.

TeeDub or Dub TEE  you need to get a life , or a brain . i was in your shoes 4 years ago, a sex offender was the nastiest thing in the world, guess what God knocked meto my knees,  my son had sex with a girl who said she was 18 ,not , thats right she lied ,her  life and lies go on , my son now 24 ,he was 20 when it happen. and my family are going thru living hell. what goes around comes around . if you dont know God ,it dont matter you still may have to drop to your knees or farther, do you think my son should have to register for life ,the young man ricky needs what we all need , a second chance ,all males would be registered sex offenders if you did it right , if you are pure and clean , cast the first stone , I dropped my stone .

I can't believe that this many posters with incredibly bad grammar and spelling have joined to promote sex with underage children.

Really?   We need to start letting adults have sex with minors?   Is that what all these people want?

It just seems a little dirty.

Let's hope all these new posters on this topic read and contribute to other threads.

I can see how upset they all are. This is ruining some young person's life because of a blanket policy. They are just reaching out to any branch they see and hoping that somehow this issue gets heard from their point of view.

Power is nothing till you use it.

While this thread is spam on all sides, let's see if I can glean a few things most of us can agree on:

1. The sex offender registry needs overhauled because unfairly punishes naive teenagers and unrelated crimes (like peeing in public)
2. Teenagers are stupid. statistics show the majority of voting US citizens were once teenagers.
3. If one has their conviction expunged, their sex offender registry status should also be capable of being expunged.
4. Statutory rape laws, while good in theory, should be enforced objectively.
5. Teenagers... still stupid.

No, THESE people are promoting letting adults have sex with minors: http://nambla.org/

The case they are talking about involves a 16yo and a 13yo. No adults involved.

One of the other posters broadened it...

my son had sex with a girl who said she was 18 ,not , thats right she lied ,her  life and lies go on , my son now 24 ,he was 20 when it happen.

Sorry to re-paste the horrible spelling and grammar, but I don't want to be accused of taking it out of context.

I think all boys after the age of 18 know the saying that "16 will get you 20."   In fact, if you put that into Google, you get back over 96 MILLION results.

cannon_fodder

Generally 18 year olds can have sex with 16 year olds.  Most states have a varient of the "5 year rule" with minors.  Ie.  A 22 year old could not have sex with a 16 year old... a 23 year old could not have sex with a 17 year old.  And 18 year olds need to lay off the 13 year old freshmen.

Criminalizing sex between an 18 year old and a 16 year old is a joke.

Exactly. nambla is a pedophile movement. There is a huge difference here.

I have one question if rickysmom is really Ricky's mom and the mom is supposed to be blind...how did she type all this into the computer and then later notice that she had some typing errors?

Very good question. She has a "blind program." She does not need a monitor, that stays off, of course. It reads out loud to her what ever she is reading. I'm amazed at how she gets around on the net and comments for her son's sake.
She has the tenacity that I wish sighted people would have.
