When I read about the renovation of the civic center I bit my lip and said you can only fight so many fights.

I was unhappy to learn that the fine example of mid-century Modernism was going to be updated.  Because mid-century Modernism is so close to our era it is hard for us to imagine that it has historical value but it does.

Renovating the civic center will actually decrease its value when you take the long view.

I suggest that we RESTORE the civic center instead of renovating it.  It will cost a whole lot less and it will ultimately be much more valuable.

Then we'll have two buildings with architectural merit: civic center and arena.
