My wife passed on this email sent out by the Mayor's Office, and asked me to post it here. Disclaimer: This is her project, so I don't really get to choose whether or not to attend, but I actually think it sounds like a great, community-building idea. I hope some of you can make it out to the event in your area -- I'll probably see you there, since I am sure I will be assigned to do face painting or something equally community-minded every Tuesday night over the summer!

You are invited to the City of Tulsa's first NeighborFest -- a celebration of neighborhoods and community planned for this summer all across the city. The City Council and I will be holding 10 separate celebrations -- one in each council district and then a citywide "back-to-school" get-together Aug. 15. The events will be held Tuesday evenings 6-8 pm at different city parks -- you can see a full schedule below. We will provide ice cream and drinks - bring a picnic and a blanket or chairs and come on out to the one in your Council district and enjoy the fun! There will be free entertainment, kids' activities (crafts, inflatables, and more), fitness demonstrations, prize drawings, and the opportunity to meet your neighbors! Not only will your City Councilor and I be there, but there will be representatives from Police, Fire, Parks and other City departments and many agencies that are working to strengthen neighborhoods and make Tulsa safer and more beautiful. I hope to see you there! For more information, contact Anna America, aamerica@cityoftulsa.org, or 596-9985.
