What are you guys doing for Thanksgiving?

Here's a family recipe to try just in case you're doing the cooking! [Cheesy]

BAKED STUFFED Turkey

20-25 lb. Turkey
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good.)
1 cup uncooked popcorn
(ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT)
Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn.

Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.

Listen for the popping sounds.

When the turkey's @$$ blows the oven door open and the turkey flies across the room, it is done

Well, I for one am coming back to the Tulsa area for the Thanksgiving weekend. Can't wait to sit down with my family for mom's cookin' and to visit with relatives also flying in.

Well with a blended family, the four kids we have between us have to make three or four stops on T-day parents, grandparents, step grandparents, girl/boyfriends and their families...Uh, the math in all that is giving me a migraine.  Therefore, we've decided to do ours on Friday so we have them captive all day.  Then we can clean leaves out of the gutters in the spirit of inentured servitude. For the second year in a row, I'm going out of the country.  I was in Costa Rica last year.  Trying Amsterdam this year.  My friends and I observed Thanksgiving in Costa Rica by having mini-chickens for lunch.  Don't know what we'll do this time.  [Cheesy]

I will tell a Thanksgiving story.

This was a couple of decades ago, long before I met my wife of today. I had gotten divorced and was pretty happy about it, even thinking that doing what I wanted to do when I wanted to was the life for me. My family wanted me to come over for turkey, but I just told them I was too busy with golf and football.

On Thanksgiving morning, I got up at dawn and played golf at LaFortune Park. It was closed, but they let anybody just walk on and play for free. I played great (even making an eagle on a par five when my ball rolled in from a hundred yards away). I quit mid-morning with just enough time to run to the grocery and get some sandwich fixins, a pie and get home by kickoff. My plan was to watch football all day, pig out, and just relax.

At the cashier, there was a television crew doing a story on what people buy at the last minute for Thanksgiving dinner. I was embarrassed that they aimed the camera at my face buying some processed turkey (one of those little bags of super thin slices), a loaf of old bread on sale and a store bought pecan pie. I asked the camera man to please use someone else.

Sure enough, on the evening news that night, it was a slow news day because the television coverage was all about me and my shopping trip. I didn't see it, my TV was on the other channel and I was taking a nap.

My phone just starts ringing with family and friends crying about how sad I looked and offers of leftovers and time together. I really had a great day (even the Packers won) up until then. It was nice to know I had so many people in my support group, but still embarrassing that my life at the time was shown to everyone as so sad.
