"Republicans' Strident Protests Against Obama's Reversals of Bush Policies are Falling on Deaf Ears, While Right-Wing Fox News and Talk-Radio Commentators Resort to Increasingly Bitter Anti-Obama Rhetoric in a So-Far Futile Effort to Turn Back the Voters' Clear Mandate for Change"

"Even Texas....is becoming more and more "purple," as growing numbers of voters, particularly moderates, are becoming increasingly turned off by the right-wing domination of the state GOP and the party itself is on the brink of an all-out ideological civil war sparked by Governor Rick Perry's ill-conceived remarks about the state seceding from the Union."

"It gets worse: The Republicans are being forced to confront the very real prospect of remaining cast out in the political wilderness for at least a decade or longer -- perhaps even a generation. Having long ago lost the support of African Americans and women, the GOP has now lost the support of Latinos."

My favorite line.."conservatives have lost the culture wars".
Can we say Amen! Hallelujah!

It's essential to avoid the same hubris the Republicans exhibited while they were in power.  Was it 5 years ago that Karl Rove boasted of a permanent Republican majority?  It's wise to remember that the pendulum swings both ways, something the Republicans seemed to have forgotten.  For that matter, the Democrats forgot that same lesson under Tip O'Neil.

What goes around, comes around.

May you live in interesting times.

Unfortunately, there are few more times allowed for it to come around again.

Screw Karl Rove.

its really gratifying to see the self-proclaimed "cultural warriors" marginalized even more so than they were.

You got your 10 commandments in Oklahoma *golf clap*.

Good job "culture warriors".

So, how'd that cons. amendment banning gay marriage turn out in the 6 years?
How did that overturning Roe V. Wade turn out for you in 6 years?

Just think since, 2005, how things have changed.

It reminds me of a quote I remember hearing at the time, which just becomes more ironic each day:

ALBANY, N.Y. - Republicans took aim at Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday for comparing President Bush to Mad magazine's freckle-faced, "What, me worry?" kid, Alfred E. Neuman.

A Republican National Committee official said the former first lady was "part of today's angry and adrift Democrat Party," while a spokesman for one of her potential 2006 Senate rivals said she was guilty of "insulting the president."

It would seem the Republicans used the so-called 'nuclear option' on themselves.
