Stock market surpasses 13,000 and climbing. . . Interest rates decreased as previous decreases show little influence on inflation. . . Economy grows modesty avoiding recession. . . Asian manufacturing market falls at the fastest pace in 5 years. . . and finally DC madam commits suicide!

I have not posted anything today on our economy. So Gaspar, where are you all of a sudden coming from?
BTW, the dollar had to eventually rally. You can only go so low. And if you like Asian economies falling, that would be bad for the world economy. What are you trying to say?
I was saddened to read of a victimless crime figure in DC hanging herself. Needless.

I've been contracting for some large items lately, they are almost all priced in Euros now (any international commodity). My head always wants to assign an 80% value to items priced in Euros, instead of a 150% value. When dealing with millions, adding 150% really throws figures off. [B)]
BUT, the weak exchange rate is why industry is booming (I would argue Tulsa would still be sustaining but...) so it's really why I'm even looking to spend millions. So, a wash I guess in my boat.
But to add to the good news, hired a some new employees today. Tulsa's unemployment rate just dipped to 3.111119%. [:D] Doing my part.

They misplaced the quotation marks though, should have read:

We added to our workforce this week as well and ordered more U.S. made goods. Bad news for the media. I loved how the AP tried to spin the UE figures into a negative.
I almost forgot, there's no bias in the media.

Here is what the data basically says:
When they sent surveys to employers the response was they cut (NET) 20,000 jobs.
When they looked at the number of people collecting unemployment, the figure dropped .1%.
Judging by the two together, it is fairly safe to say that employment was level. On the whole, the losses in construction and retail were replaced by professional services, health care, and technical skills - probably gaining better jobs than lost.
In any event, 20,000 jobs lost is about 7 jobs per county in the United States. Not as good as adding jobs, but at 5% unemployment not a big deal.

Black unemployment rate: 8.6%
Hispanic: 6.4%
Asian: 3.2%
137,818,00 jobs in the US as reported to the BLS (lawn mowing/home repair/craft work etc. under the table clearly not reported). The loss of 20,000 is a .01% decrease in total jobs. Again, not good to lose jobs, lets hope we go the other way soon, but is not terribly significant (to all but those 20K).
We did the same. Hired a new director of Architecture from Chicago.
Has a family of 3. Moved from a 900 sq. ft.. house in Chicago to a 3,000 sq. ft. house in South Tulsa for half the price.
They are thrilled, and we are thrilled to have them.
We worked one of our new guys 21 hours over the weekend (hired him on Friday) and he showed back up this morning! Woohoo, I think we found at least one that will work out. 1 or 2 more and we're set. [}:)]
