pretty cool, had no idea that they were going in down there...
Awesome. Assuming the supposed ballpark deal doesn't fall apart, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Pretty nice story...it is a great location for them, imo.

thanks, it was a link to a story with more specifics... and seemed more relevant than being buried in a medx/delta cafe thread...
big deal....we need some places on the NE NW corner of downtown. SoChey currently has the market cornered.
ne corner?
like mcnellies, el guapo, joe mammas, or elliot's yet-to-be-named deli... or past the tracks- like lolas and cazs?
big deal? no. but good news, yes. thanks for another insightful (or is that inciteful) post.
I think he meant NW..
Where is the exact location? I'm thinking 4th and Cheyenne is an option. The old mexican restaurant there that has been vacant for years now has posters covering the windows.
ugh, yes NW...[B)]
David L Moss serves hundreds of meals a day in the NW corner of downtown.

Unless you don't consider the historic Adams Hotel building at 4th & Cheyenne to be in NW downtown, I'd say you wasted a perfectly good rant.
Great spot for them. Two blocks from the arena and next door to the Mayo Hotel, which will soon be loft apartments and hotel rooms.

I'd say that the Mincks-Adams Hotel is part of the "core" CBD...Two blocks from Main St...two blocks from the BOK...Next to the Mayo...pretty ideal locale if you ask me. The valet parking seems smart. Valet for the restaurant before a show/game at the arena, pick up the car afterwards...

Buildings in the National Register of Historic Places
Mincks-Adams Hotel
403 South Cheyenne Avenue (map it)
Built: 1927-28
The Adams Hotel is located on a lot in the heart of the Central Business District of Tulsa. Built by I. S. Mincks to capitalize on the 1928 International Petroleum Exposition, the building has thirteen floors, with a full basement and penthouse. A 1935 liquidation sale gave it new owners and a new name: the Adams Hotel.
The Adams facade is widely recognized as an excellent example of glazed terra-cotta veneering. Produced by the Northwestern Terra Cotta Company, the terra cotta pastel blues and reds are still quite noticeable, and the individual tile units are sound, with tight mortar joints. The architectural style of the facade is eclectic, in the mood of the 1893 to 1917 period when architects felt free to use any and all decorative motifs as they saw fit. Its highly ornate facade is an imaginative combination of Gothic, Italian Renaissance, and Baroque decorations. Terra cotta is also used extensively in the interior of the building in the lobby, coffee shop, and stairwell.
The hotel was listed in the National Register on November 7, 1978, under National Register Criterion C, and its NRIS number is 78002273.

Yep. The area he'll be in still has the decor up from the former Mexican restaurant, which the owner said was plus. They plan to open up in early June.
I quit patronizing Casa Laredo about 5 years ago after they were cited for multiple health department/code violations. Wherever they choose to operate is of no concern to me.
I love that location. It used to be Tules Santa Fe.
My wife and I had our first date there.

Tules!!! I have been trying for years to remember that name. Back in the day when I used to work for the old State Federal Savings at 5th & Main (now Arvest), we used to go to Tules all the time for happy hour and the free appetizer buffet. You could go there for $5, have 2 cocktails and unlimited Tex-Mex finger food. Thanks Recyclemichael for sparking my memory.

I didn't know about that. I'm going to pretend I never read it, because Casa Laredo is one of my favorite restaurants.
My wife and I frequented Tule's. If I remember they had blue margaritas. Good food too.
Steve, if you only knew how many really good restaurants have been cited you would never eat out again. Tulsa's health department does a fine job of keeping restauranteurs in line. Some say they are too tough. It only takes one bad employee or one mistake at the right time and you look bad. The good news is that they will shut you down if you don't correct the mistakes.
Any updates?
The last story I saw said it was to open in early June.
I used to visit Edith every week at Casa Monterrey, before it was so mis-managed that she was able to buy them out. I've only visited the 41st and Peoria location, with the old mural of Monterrey, Mexico on the wall. Wonder if they'll do any large scale art at the new location downtown?
I LOVE what Jose and Brian (Outsider's Ink) did for El Quapo's exterior wall (Day of the Dead mural). I hope that trend continues as we see this area filling in with new life.
