Title: Mayor's office move can't win for losing

So Henderson complains about the Mayor building offices nicer than his with nicer letters on the door (which sounded overly petty) and now they decide to not build any offices, save money and move into some vacant prebuilt offices on a floor that is half vacant and she gets yelled at because it's on the top floor.

Really?

its not just Henderson.  He was just the first to cry foul.  this move is wrong on so many counts.  it is one big ego trip for the mayor.

I need about 3600 sigs to start a recall effort....anyone want to join me?

Sorry I didn't vote for the Mayor and I don't agree with her on everything but while I think the move to city hall wasn't necessarily the best movie, it's the kind of gambles we need to take. If we want to wait on a new tax hike to fix or move city hall, it would fall over from age.

Her finish out costs will be zilch. She receives no compensation....hmmm. Let's see the tab on the counsel offices before we judge her.

Heh, I'll sign almost any recall.  Just to keep politicians on their toes.  But in reality, as unhappy as I might be with any given politician - the next guy probably won't be any better.

While I rarely agree with the Tulsa World, I thought their editorial this morning was spot on.

Anybody remember how much it cost Williams to build OTC?  I want to say it was around $200 million.  So the city gets it for a fraction of the cost, and people are complaining that it's too nice?

I personally want visitors and executives who are considering doing business with Tulsa to be impressed.  The mayor's office should be nice. The executive offices are already there.  Let's use them, and call it what it is: a bargain.

I don't think it was that much...But I agree with you on the rest of it....The place they were in was functionally obsolete....

I can assure you the building is not going to fall over from age. Perhaps it needs renovation, but it is not in danger of falling over.

According to the move schedule in the paper a while back, some or most of the employees from the Center Office Building should be in OTC now.

I also heard a rumor that there is a buyer for the Center Office Building.  Amazing, but that's what I heard.

Yes, and maintaining a building's vertical alignment is the only kind of repair that matters. Thanks for clarifying.

I heard it was closer to $350 million and I worked for Williams at the time it was built.  I was a part of the relocation team that moved Communications into the One Tech Center.

Currently, I work for the IT Dept. for the City of Tulsa and we moved from the Hartford Building @ 1st & Greenwood to the OTC, 6th Floor about a month ago.   I love this building, but many City employees are complaining about the lack of privacy.  Most of them had their own offices and are now stuck in 8'x6' cubicles.  The entire City staff at Center Office Building (7th & Houston) started their first day in OTC this Monday.  IT's been intersting to say the least, but I think everyone will adapt quickly.

Save it. Chris Medlock was a much more unpopular politician in this town, and the recall vote wasn't close.

Last I checked, Kathy Taylor had an approval rate of close to 60 percent.

A recall effort would be just p*ssing in the wind.
