Surely they'll have a better headliner.  Sounds like Davit Souders' personal interest and not anything that will really drag people downtown.

I'll go see Zappa.

The local selections are excellent as well.

wow, as a huge dfest fan, i'm a little disappointed in this line-up... underwhelming... i hope the other national acts will be more exciting...

If anything, GO SEE GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY!!! I am SO pumped to see them on the list. They are amazing live.

I like it being more diverse. I like DFest and I understand the flaming lips are a big draw, but I just never liked them personally.

ghostland observatory should be very cool...
while paramore is cute and mildly entertaining and ,back in the day, helmet could rock... the line-up still just seems lacking to me... but then again, i hate jam bands... hopefully, the numbers will turn out...

Jam Bands fans are willing to travel to see shows.  This line-up will be a huge draw.  ZPZ is one of the best live shows going right now. If you think it is pathetic, then you haven't seen it. Flaming Lips are wildly popular - hard to find people who don't like their live shows.  Disco Biscuits, I'll admit, are an acquired taste (not a fan of their vocals), but they have a VERY dedicated fan base and are a great dance party.  I have friends already planning a drive from Albuquerque this year to see the shows.

I'm a little under-whelmed so far, however the Zappa thing sounds very interesting.  This is only the first round of listings, so hopefully they will announce a big-time headliner in the coming weeks.

Yep, that line up does rock (I was involved with that fest for the first 2 years), but that is an entirely different league. It is an on-site camping festival on a large state park with scalable ticket and camping options.  It is huge, extremely well organized and generates BIG cash. That not something that suites downtown and you'll never get anything like that for a $30 ticket. Tix start at $160 (w/ some early bird discounts) VIP tickets are $460.  They also charge for a couple of levels of upgraded camping options ($225-$400 after tickets)and even have RV rental arrangements!

The Roots and Ghostland Observatory will definitely have me there.  I would love to see Ghostland pull the TU/OU/OSU band up on stage with them as they've done the UT band times before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MpGXjR59Q0&feature=related
